Mendip transmitter.
Since doing the necessary re-tune on 3rd Sept my Hummy won't record BBC3 & BBC4 - neither SD or HD - on timer, but if I hit Record whilst watching the channel then it records OK.
Worked fine before the re-tune.
The error is "The channel is scrambled or not available"...
Just done a re-tune as Film4 (and a couple of others) were showing nothing in the EPG. I've now got BBC3 HD (105) but not BBC4 HD. Is this not being transmitted by the Mendip transmitter?
Some time ago I posted about how to remove the Enc flag using a binary/hex editor for those who don't use Windows so can't use Foxy - in the Wiki HERE
While this works fine, like any manual method it is prone to typos and other finger trouble plus it's rather tedious doing one file at a time...
Is it possible?
When I formatted the USB drive I've attached to my Hummy it was named USB-1
If I press Opt+ when it's selected the Rename option is disabled.
Foxy is a neat program but as it's a native Windows app it's not a lot of use to those of us who don't use Windows. However, it's easy enough to do without Foxy as long as you feel comfortable using a binary/hex editor.
I used 0xED on my Mac but there are hundreds of bin/hex editors out there...
For the last week or so I've been getting no picture or sound from my HDR Fox-T2. It still records and changes channel etc. when it's in this state so it hasn't hung/crashed.
Powering off/on using the switch at the rear doesn't fix it, only pulling the mains plug for ~60 seconds resets it...
As if it's not bad enough that the Humax trashes your recording schedule when you re-tune, it's now started trashing it before you re-tune.
Switched on tonight and got a message that I needed to re-tune - WHY FFS?? - and clicked 'Later' so I could take photos of the Schedule screens, only to...
If I play video shot on my iPhone 4S on my HDR either by putting it on a USB stick, or streaming through Serviio on my Ubuntu box or MacBook Pro, the HDR stretches it vertically even though it is full HD (1920x1080) video.
I've found that the Display Format (the WIDE button) affects this. I...
Had to do a re-tune which meant I lost my Favourites List so had to re-add it
As the TV was on BBC HD (channel 54) I started there and added them down to channel 1
Now when I view Favourites in the EPG they are in descending order. Switched back to List but the Sort option (red button) is...
Got the Hummy setup to record Sebastian Bergman at 9pm on BBC4. Fortunately when I switched on an hour ago the Hummy was already on BBC4 but just a blank screen. Same on BBC3. Other channels, eg ITV3 & More4 are OK
Thought it may be yet another DSO retune but the TV is OK. Power-cycling made no...
That's both episodes now (tonight and last Tues) of Indian Hill Railways that have not recorded. Both give "The channel is scrambled or not available" when I try to play the recordings. I can watch BBC4 live just fine - including tonight's Indian Hill Railways.
All other channels record fine...
So, for about a week now I've been messing about with transcoding trying to find a format for videos that will play on the HDR from my DLNA server (Serviio running on Ubuntu).
Everything I tried resulted in either unplayable formats or, at best, choppy video or no sound.
I'm using 85Mbps...
Saw a trailer for Wire In The Blood tonight so did a Keyword search to find it - but no matches. Looked through the EPG and there it was, next Mon ITV3, 22:30
Did some testing and found that if I enter 'wire' (no quotes), i.e. all lower case there is no match but if I enter 'WIRE' then it...
I've posted this here as it happened on my HDR, but it might be a general issue (or not even a PVR issue).
Last night I set Wallander on BBC One HD in the shcedule. According to the synopsis, it is a 3-part series, but the HDR only gave me the option of Record Whole Programme - no Record Whole...
Got my media server set up (MediaTomb on Ubuntu Linux) and was trying it out last night.
There seems to be a limited number of codecs installed on the HDR as it was only able to decode about half the files. The rest it just said "Unable to support this format". Judging by the time it takes...
Anyone know? Seems to be as bad now as when I first used it a few years ago.
It uses Flash or Java so doesn't work on the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.
It isn't available on my Sony TV or Blu-ray player and, I imagine, won't be on the Humax TV Portal either.
Even on a PC/Mac it's terrible.
The HDR...
Strange thing happened last night.
Was recording Taggart (scheduled recording) on ITV1 HD and watching Silent Witness on BBC One HD (time-shifted by about 5 mins). Screen went blank then the warning triangle appeared with a message like "Channel has no content or is scrambled". Waited a few...
Since this is a techie forum, full of techie people, I thought it might be interesting to see what you all use.
I use Mac OS X and Ubuntu Linux. Gave up on Windows years ago, although I still use it (XP Pro) at work.
