Copying files to USB ?

Both files after using Video redo will play Audio & Video in VLC, WMP & MPC

I don't have splash player, as they now play do you still want me to download splash player?

Both files have no audio when imported into Vegas.

Which version of Vegas ? Vegas Pro supports aac .

At a guess Splash Lite or the paid for versions (they aren't too expensive) will play back the original file.

I use Splash Pro EX (It's excellent) (£15.87 at current US dollar exchange rate).

I don't think it adds anything to the situation ... as files now play of 3 separate players.
However downloaded splash lite ... it plays on there as well. (since running through Videoredo)

The issue is when I import in Vegas ... there is no audio .... the program states it supports .ts

I have Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12

I would happily load video & audio as sepearte files if you know of a way for me to split the file into elemental streams ... or perhaps even simpler just extract the audio

You misunderstand, .ts is a container format. (It stands for transport stream). The container can contain various video formats and audio formats. If vegas doesn't understand the audio contained in the container you get no audio.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_video_container_formats

You may be able to fix this by installing a extra codec on your PC.

This is the one I suggest you try

http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

I use this audio conversion software (You may find a free one that works for you), to convert aac to ac3.

http://www.flv-mp3.net/

As Vegas Movie Studio has poor support for individual audio and video files you may find it won't recognise the .ac3 file produced.

TSmuxerGUI will work with the two files but you may have to play with the audio sync option (+100) works for me.

One of the Magix video editing packages would have been a better choice.

I have previously been told to keep away form the K-Lite pack (Video Help forum) eg http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/320568-Want-to-use-K-Lite-DON-T-DO-IT!

The issue being why install a bunch of codecs that could remove ones that alreday work ............ is there a specific codec I need to install, happy to do so if you can advise.

Not a clue, I gave up on Movie Studio a while ago. For anything other than camcorder content, it's not that useful.

Did Splash Lite work on the original file as transferred from the box ?

This is the point, innit. The problem of the download is getting conflated with the problem of which players/editors etc support the native recorded format. We are interested in whether your decryption and transfer works correctly; the problem of compatibility is a side issue.

Just tried them ... yes it does play OK.

Had some guys looking into help on another forum ......... looking like to culprit is that the files has the following set:
MuxingMode : LATM

The recording file is simply what the broadcaster transmits apart from the inbox encryption.

VideoReDo has an option to convert AAC LATM to ADTS headers - when saving click on the 'Profile Options' button towards the bottom of the dialogue box and then click on the 'Convert AAC LATM to ADTS headers' check box at the bottom.

I've no idea whether this would enable Vegas to recognize the audio stream but it seems worth testing out.

Again when imported into Vegas - no audio.
Tried a few other options:
a) saving as elementary streams - but .m2V video not recognised by Vegas

b) re-encoded with audio as AAc - video loads into Vegas and plays OK, but no audio

best result so far ...

c) re-encoded with audio as MPEG Layer2 - video Loads and plays but only single audio track ... not the multiple tracks (5.1) .... the multiple audio tracks box was ticked in Save as options.

So still looking for solution.

MP2 only supports stereo (2) audio tracks. Your only real chance to preserve 5.1 is to convert to ac3 (Dolby Digital). I have some content with ac3 (From Freesat) I can try opening one in Vegas pro but I doubt it will work.

EDIT

Even trying to open it crashes Vegas Pro. Opens no problem in Magix Video Editing software.
