I'm so very sorry to you for not replying sooner. I did say I would keep an eye out on this forum but I was moving house so that took a priority. Yes I do still have the Backup Plus (I never did get round to returning it back to Argos) and I'm extremely grateful for all your help.
I'm really...
In response:
- it makes no sense to YOU but a whole lot of sense to me and i suspect the vast majority of people who use Windows. You should give allowances to 'new members' who possibly might not be as well versed in jargon/linux commands as you are.
- i beg to differ anyway - from a Windows...
I'm a new member so with respect i don't know who wrote it - and i don't care, i'm merely trying to help others like me who aren't computer whizz kids or have the same level of knowledge and understand of the Humax product as yourself, and the Linux system overall. It would be a true statement...
- lol, i had forgotten that method to be honest.
I'm from a non-computing background so using commands is way beyond me, but yes - i stand corrected
...ive edited the post with: via FTP
thanks again
My understanding is that you can access a Humax via FTP in two ways (from a Windows machine):
(i) - to view the whole file structure (the raw files only), for the purpose of "Foxy'ing" the .hmt file (non-custom firmware). Or to copy/paste a new thumbnail post #131 (click) . I use Windows 'File...
<undelete Package suggestion>
'af123' i imagine you've got a list of jobs as long as your arm right now, especially as you've also been good enough to help me with my 8TB External usb-drive using GPT problem. You seem to be the creator of nearly all the CFW packages too!
Could i add my...
Who created the original 'undelete' package, does anyone know?
I'm hoping that if the originator can remember how the function works within the package itself (moving to a temp folder), it can just be tweaked a little so it sits in the usb-hdd folder also, if the user wishes..... or is that too...
...Yes great suggestion! - how do we do that? - is it something that can be done without a new package being created, or do you have a trick up your sleeve you don't mind sharing....? ;)
Ah, my mistake was to ftp into the box via the web browser (effectively accessing the Webif), when i should of ftp'd via 'File Explore' (windows 8.1) where i can access all the sub-files.... so it's just a case of replacing the old .thm with the .thm from the new version. I should of thought of...
Hi 'Black Hole' - could you clarify number:4 - i've ftp'd into my box but don't understand when you say copy thumbnail..... how do you do this exactly. Thanks.
Hi, did these options ever get implemented? I really can't understand the point of thumbnails for recordings - i'm sure 99% people select a recording by it's name and not by image. Even so, users could simplify their recordings list easier (especially if they're not all in dedicated folders)...
This package only works for recordings that are still on the internal disk - is there a way to get it to work for external disks also? (either with the same package or a new external package called: 'undelete external'). It will then prevent my children from deleting a programme permanently by...
Apologies in advanced for all the quotes:
I know, I know... I must be completely crazy! BUT in my defence, it's sod's law that what I want to watch isn't on tv, and what is on tv is just crap! Hence just record everything! Besides, I enjoy being able to take the hard drive's to my friends...
