    Humax 5000T auto tuning query

Thanks for the replies. @MartinLiddle: that you can dismiss the re-tune prompts is the key here, I think. Humax told me that it wasn't possible. This is all very encouraging. Clem

    Humax 5000T auto tuning query

Could someone who has a 5000T clarify something for me please? There's a thread over on AVForums which is discussing how the 5000T handles channel updates, whenever they come along. I live in a location where I can get get services from 3 TX, so, on my existing kit, once I've got the channels...

HDMI audio issues - Humax 1800t, Panasonic TV, Onkyo amp, Sony HDD, Samsung Blu Ray

Yes, I get that, but given that Humax kit has no CEC implementation to disable, that means messing around with the TV settings, which for me, would kill CEC for other devices that do have a working CEC scheme. All-in-all, it is a bit of a dog's dinner. Clem

1800T says signal too weak, but TV says it's fine

I had the same issue as the OP on my second sample of an 1800T box (the first dying after about 5 days, failing to recognise it's own hard drive). After a lot of messing around changing/re-routing HDMI and aerial cables, using mains surge filters and so forth, I got it swapped-out for yet...

Questions from a would-be BT Youview box owner

I think that Panasonic has fixed the issue too, but not on all of its kit. They've drawn a line at how far back they'll go supporting their hardware, and that's excluded my PVR, hence the search for a replacement. Clem

HDMI audio issues - Humax 1800t, Panasonic TV, Onkyo amp, Sony HDD, Samsung Blu Ray

You're not boring me at all. As an ex-computer systems engineer with many years engineering low-level systems firmware I get all that you're saying, and I'm not disagreeing with any of it. It doesn't change the fact that getting Humax kit to play nicely with other vendor's hardware seems more of...

HDMI audio issues - Humax 1800t, Panasonic TV, Onkyo amp, Sony HDD, Samsung Blu Ray

Incompatibility, if that's the term being used here, is then down to the poor job done by Humax. Why doesn't any Humax device have a CEC control option for the HDMI interface, for example? That omission is inexcusible in 2018, IMO. As for incompatibility, given that HDMI is supposed to be a...

Questions from a would-be BT Youview box owner

Thanks all for the detailed replies. It seems that my Youview box idea is not so smart, and the Humax 5000T may have to be my friend. As for the com7/8 issues, it was/is something that seems to blat Panasonic PVRs. Once a re-tune event to cater for com7/8 has taken place, the box demonstrates a...

HDMI audio issues - Humax 1800t, Panasonic TV, Onkyo amp, Sony HDD, Samsung Blu Ray

Humax kit is, IMHO, notorious for its poor implementation of HDMI. In my experience, it's the only kit that I've had issues with, spanning Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Manhattan and Yamaha hardware. I think that my comments are valid in that context. The 1800T/2000T models do not play nicely in...

Questions from a would-be BT Youview box owner

Thanks, I see. But what about the specific questions that I have? My 'net searches pretty much came-up empty, other than perhaps the NowTV app. may only support the films and entertainment packs -- as I'm after only the entertainment pack that should be OK. Clem

HDMI audio issues - Humax 1800t, Panasonic TV, Onkyo amp, Sony HDD, Samsung Blu Ray

Yes, sure, but the point that I was trying to make, badly, obviously, was that if other Humax kit connected via HDMI works OK in my set-up, why not the 1800T? Accepting that HDMI standards are open to interpretation, it's pretty clear to me that Humax wildly misinterpreted those standards when...

HDMI audio issues - Humax 1800t, Panasonic TV, Onkyo amp, Sony HDD, Samsung Blu Ray

This problem sounds familiar. I had similar issues connecting an 1800T to my Sony TV, which in turn was connected to a Sony sound bar. Waking the 1800T from standby would always cause a 'no signal' on the TV for several seconds. If the 1800T was powered-up before the TV then the sound bar would...

Questions from a would-be BT Youview box owner

Apologies in advance if this topic has been aired elsewhere, but please forgive me as I’m a newbie to the forums. I'm considering replacing my existing Panasonic FreeviewHD PVR as it's just starting to get a bit temperamental, and I rely on it for a lot of time-shifting. Having not been...
