New TV Provokes Green Screen Issue

I tried two new Aura's they were both the same. The HDMI inputs have two modes - Mode 1 for older devices and Mode 2 for newer ones. Mode 2 always displays the video, but no sound. Mode 1 displays video and audio but on only about 5% of start-ups

New TV Provokes Green Screen Issue

Thanks everyone for all your replies and suggestions. Since the post I have done a lot of testing and analysis which supports my original thoughts that it is not an age related failure it is an inherent problem with my very early sample of the T2. I purchased the T2 in early 2011 and the...

New TV Provokes Green Screen Issue

I have a Humax HDR Fox T2 which has performed very well for 10+ years. When feeding into a new Panasonic TV the HDMI handshake fails and produces the dreaded “green screen”. On the old TV, also a Panasonic, there was very occasionally a very short green-screen flash but it then connects and...

Hard drive temperature - very hot

I have now completed measuring the relationship between minimum fan speed and HDD temperature, the graph is attached. Following the tests the fan speed is now set to 55% duty cycle to give a maximum HDD temperature of about 4oC. I have also determined that the Delta AUB0512LB fan is almost...

Hard drive temperature - very hot

My intention is to leave it at 34% for a few days to ensure that the system is fully stable under all the normal usage conditions and then to increase the duty cycle in stages, probably up to 50%, recording the resulting steady-state temperatures. I will post the results in a couple of weeks time.

Hard drive temperature - very hot

50C in itself is not really a problem for HDD's. Reliability is more related to the temperature change, but more specifically to the rate of temperature change. Some drives run a lot hotter than others. Some Seagate drives do run hotter than WD. The spec for the Nidec fan is not known but since...

Hard drive temperature - very hot

If there was a way of accessing the fan tacho signal we could set the fan controller to maximum duty cycle and measure the fan speed for a machine using the Delta and another using the Nidec. That would tell us whether Humax changed to a higher output fan sometime during its production life.

Hard drive temperature - very hot

I have just replaced the HDD which was beginning to fail, probably not helped by the large temperature cycling. I have now also installed the "fan" package and set the minimum duty cycle to 34%. This keeps the drive at 50C, but I do have a concern over the life of the fan when running...

Hard drive temperature - very hot

The only evidence that I have is from the fans quoted current draw. The Nidec fan draws 0.04A, whilst the Delta AUB0512LB fan draws 0.11A (although Delta's AUB0512LB spec sheet shows 0.07A ). Fan speed is a function of current draw, and speed is a function of current draw. From the Nidec part...

Hard drive temperature - very hot

I have just replaced the HDD in my HDR-Fox T2. In doing this I noticed that the fan (as originally fitted) is not the same as shown in Post #40. A "Nidec H35755-58 DC12V 0.04A 5015 5CM 50mm 50x50x15mm 3pin Cooling Fan" was fitted to my T2. I believe this Nidec fan is slower and produces less...

    New Update (w/c 05 May 2014)

The latest OTA update still has the slow EPG scrolling issue. I have never used 1.03.12 before - the lag is noticeable and could be better, but I find that it is just about acceptable. The moral of this thread is - don't believe what Humax Customer Support tell you!

    New Update (w/c 05 May 2014)

The reply from Humax was an answer to my question about the release of new firmware resolving the "new" HD channel recording problem AND the slow scrolling of the EPG.

    New Update (w/c 05 May 2014)

Today (02 May 2014), received the following message from Humax:

    New firmware Version 1.03.12 for HDR-FOX T2

It was pulled while I was downloading it. After downloading the install instantly failed with a weird error message and saying "try again". So I then searched for the update again, and got the message "not found". Being totally confused I tried again, with the same result. I tried a manual...
