Start Up Fails When HDD Connected

Indeed I have looked in the past and have a number installed including as I said SYSMON which is not standard and fix-disk, disable-ota, disable-dso, zeroconf etc etc. However, I probably fall into the category of people who only look in depth to find a solution to a problem they have. (My quote...

Start Up Fails When HDD Connected

Ah, OK thanks. It was line 190 - the newer disks do not have this line so perhaps won't get reported? I assumed wrongly it was getting this from smartctl. (i.e. 194 Temperature_Celsius -O---K 33 100 100 000

Start Up Fails When HDD Connected

This is sort of linked but let me know if you would prefer a new thread. I am starting to notice things I may have already known but subconsciously ignored. My machines had the faulty 4u7 caps causing one to constantly reboot. This and another machine both had failing hard drives which seem to...

Start Up Fails When HDD Connected

Thank you all for the above advice and information. It had never occured to me that the copied file was actually intact with it's encryption (I just had never tried copying an encrypted file and then decrypting it) - I had just assumed it was gibberish. Understand about keeping the 4 files...

Start Up Fails When HDD Connected

Initially I was assuming that the Linux I was using was not completely compatible with the Humax disk layout as I was having problems running smartctl, fsck etc but I now think it was because the disk is so messed up. What I did see is that the files are all still there on the My Video partition...

Start Up Fails When HDD Connected

Thank you all for your write up on this issue. I have three of these boxes. Box 1. Doing a retune of the machine on reboot it kept cycling as you describe. Unfortunately at this point I had not seen this thread. Being unable to boot the box I removed the HDD and put it in a Linux machine and...

    Firmware ver1.00.27 for PVR9300T

Time permitting I'll take a closer look at the units to see if I can spot any obvious physical differences / part number changes.

    Firmware ver1.00.27 for PVR9300T

It is possible no-one will have it but I thought it worth asking the question here in case someone in the past had managed to acquire a copy from Humax and still has it around. I have asked the question of humax support and just noticed I had an email back and the person responding says :-...

    Firmware ver1.00.27 for PVR9300T

Hi, Does anyone have a copy of firmware v1.00.27 (loader a4.40) that they could let me have a copy of. I stupidly overwrote one of my boxes with ver1.00.26 and now it is not possible to tune any channels on it. I kicked myself round the room a few times and then searched for the right version...

    Upgrading HDD

Final part of the replacement hard disk story. Seagate have replaced the drive with a "Certified Repaired HDD" - not new - but it does have an almost 2 year warranty until 27-Mar-2016. Same model as the old one - ST1000VM002-1CT162. Have installed it in my spare HDR-FOX T2 - CF disk diagnostics...

Oops hadn't really intended to - more haste less speed. Offending gibberish removed.

    Upgrading HDD

Update: Continued to have problems with the ST1000VM002 disk. Each time I ran Seatools it found another 100 sectors to repair. 1635430084 to 1635430183 and latest yesterday evening 1341499432 to 1341499435 and 1341582336 to 1341582431 Have decided to bite the bullet and RMA to Seagate...

    Upgrading HDD

Update on fix-disk. I put old ST1000VM002 back in the Humax and the webif was showing !! WARNING !! There appear to be some hardware problems with the internal hard disk on this device. Disk realloc sector count is: 8 Disk pending sector count is: 248 Disk offline sector count is: 248...

    Upgrading HDD

I put the ST31000424CS disk back in before buying my new one and after running for a while it was showing 633 remapped sectors - it had previously been zeroed using seagate tools. Can't remember the count on the ST100VM002 at present - I'll repost when I reattach it but it was in the low teens...

    USB file transfer issue

That does sound very similar. I just may have not copied such a large batch in the past so perhaps didnt get the problem. Some instances were overnight but others were during the day when there was no standby issued or scheduled on-off but there were scheduled recordings happening. I do now...
