Only 0.4V at LNB 1/2 Input Sockets on Back of Foxsat HDR. Is this a fault ?

BH you're right, the old Foxsat is stuck firmly in the retune loop. No foresight ? ....it's much worse than that, I didn't even have a clue anything like Nowster's patch existed. Especially for IT stuff, I've always relied on the 'if it ain't broke, don't try and fix it' theory, as fiddling...

Only 0.4V at LNB 1/2 Input Sockets on Back of Foxsat HDR. Is this a fault ?

Thanks everyone for your advice & comments. Graham, I did see the ad for digirepairs, thanks, and I emailled them with my symptoms & findings to ask (as far as they could possibly tell from the info I gave) if it's likely to be repaireable. All I got in response was; 'you'll have to send it...

Only 0.4V at LNB 1/2 Input Sockets on Back of Foxsat HDR. Is this a fault ?

Update & conclusion; Purely by coincidence, just the other day, I was relocating a spare bedroom TV from stand mounted to wall mounted when I noticed it had a satellite reception socket, allowing me to conduct some diagnosis by substitution. With TV selected as the input source, and a DMM...

Only 0.4V at LNB 1/2 Input Sockets on Back of Foxsat HDR. Is this a fault ?

Here’s an update folks; I did as BH suggested and measured the voltage on the antenna cable centre conductor with the LNB connected, and still got 0.4v. I noticed the DMM was incrementing by 1mV per 10 seconds approx and with clock type regularity so I left it for a few hours, hoping it might...

Only 0.4V at LNB 1/2 Input Sockets on Back of Foxsat HDR. Is this a fault ?

@Trev, Thanks for your assistance so far, and I think your assessment is highly likely......same as; take the battery out of your car, and it's not going to start! So I'm currently trying to make a bias tee to provide alternative power. But you rest and get well soon, no need to worry about this...

@sine24 Thanks very much for the info. Well that puts a different light on how this was appearing to pan out.

Only 0.4V at LNB 1/2 Input Sockets on Back of Foxsat HDR. Is this a fault ?

Hi all, and thanks for your thoughts. Hands up…. I misinterpreted the models covered by the what every owner should know thread. It was very late at night, after several hours of internet research of a subject I’m new to. Looks like all that Circadian Rhythm stuff studied in Human Factors...

Only 0.4V at LNB 1/2 Input Sockets on Back of Foxsat HDR. Is this a fault ?

I have a 12 year old Foxsat HDR on a Sky antenna installation which is approx 2 years older, which has worked perfectly, albeit only doing the basics; watching + recording + playing. It lost reception of all channels…. on Christmas day would you believe. An auto and manual retune found nothing...
