    Media mistakes

Every lazy reporter is now using the rather precise 404,000 number (it only includes cases, @gomezz), badly qualified with either "about", "around" or "approximately" (as @Black Hole first noticed). They are passing on a precision mistake from the source, plus another important omission they...

No big point, just saying the £68M wasn't a maths error, as may have been assumed. Revenue includes vendor's pitches, merchandise sales, etc. so even if the other figures had been correct (they weren't, so the input was garbage as you mentioned) you can't multiply just them to get total revenue.

The pedant in me would point out revenue was indeed £68.4M. It's the numbers following it that are just plain wrong. Glastonbury's license allows up to 210,000 people on site (the fans, plus several thousand staff, and performers). 2025 tickets cost £373.50+£5 booking. They deliberately didn't...

Best way to swap HDD between two T2

The Custom Encryption Key option (in the Web-IF -> Advanced menu) does say "NB: For fastest direct decryption, set the second half of the key to the same as the first half." This is the only forum thread I can find that mentions it verbatim, and it could be misleading because it might not be...

    Online manual / documentation

I've got both the ...200GB... and ...300GB... .pdf manuals matching the above quoted dates. I needed to program the remote to control another device recently and the 200GB version has codes for way more devices than the newer 300GB version (it's 26 pages longer and most of those are the device...

    Replacement remote

@clemenzina Hi, the instructions for changing the IR code are here, zero should not come up as only 1-6 are valid, so you may be looking at the wrong setting. Does pressing and holding zero & OK at the same time for many seconds bring a message up on the screen and switch on the PVR LED on the...

    Reboot Affected Signal Strength!

To help narrow it down, are other TV channels on the same MUX also bad (list here but easier, the web-if -> diag -> mux info will also tell you)? I know you say you only rebooted, not re-tuned(???) but also check your receiver is using the correct expected MUX Channels (postcode checker here -...

    Replacement remote

I got a second one last month because it was easier than daily hunting over the house for where other household members had "hidden" it (and for a spare just in case). Unless you want a science project (sounds like you might 😉 ), by far the quickest and easiest is to search ebay for "humax...

    Driving and Roads

It's as Gomezz described, quoting from the book: "Security coded radio: To deter thieves, a radio or CD unit that requires a security code (or pin number) to operate it." I stand corrected as I didn't realise it was still a thing, I can't remember the last time I saw one, and our cars aren't...

    Driving and Roads

I did - took a while to get in touch with the correct people at AA publishing, and today they thanked me for the useful comments and said my corrections would be reflected in the next edition. Happy to say my daughter passed her theory test yesterday - that part of their book is pretty...

    Media mistakes

My daughter is learning to drive so (lucky her) I bought her this 488 page thriller for bedtime reading: It's only the 10th edition (2022) so should we be lenient when they mess up the fundamentals of how a car works 😉. There's more errors, just in the "beginner's guide" glossary section alone.

    Denon remote codes

If anyone ever reads this again, the 3 digit guide from here has several codes for various Denon kit, mine worked with "067" (I have an AVR-X1300R, I would guess most AVR--XnnnnR will be the same, as are 'just' different power/specs). Lucky it was a low number as I originally found it by trial...

I'm usually behind on current events, but keep up Victoria...(and not a subtitle error, she did say it)

    Media mistakes

Mark Webber (F1 build-up last Sun, I'm days behind) said the pit lane loss is massive, "nearly over 30 seconds". Hmm. I wonder which driver will do the thirty-second pit stop 😉

    Media mistakes

Never noticed a "bank error in your favour" in Tesco, but twice this year I've had clubcard reductions not applied by the till (pork joints reduced to £4/kg, and frozen scampi at half price - the staff did remove the half-price shelf label when processing my refund, but the pork was still...
