Humax Freesat Recorder
Hello folks, I'm thinking about changing to Freesat as the aerial reception is getting pretty dire where I live. The only thing that is stopping me is the fact there do not seem to be any Human recorders out there. Have looked at the Freesat recorder on offer at Currys but the reviews are so bad... -

How many channels at a time?
I generally record 2 on the hummy, which is tuned to my av channel, while watching third on the TV sets tuner. You should give it a try.- guygrand

Once again hot weather is here and causing our free view signal to collapse every evening. If I get a Hummy 1010S and a dish I will be able to receive satellite signals which should cure the problem. I see no reason to bin my 9200 free view box though. Will they both continue to function... -

Cheers for that. I'll do it later on & let you know. Didn't realise consecutive recording knocked off the padding. Had a look at the FoxHDR T2 yesterday, supposed to be better and the guy in the shop says you can plug in a USB to take off recording to save, or play back stuff stored on it. It's...- guygrand

Manual Retune

Lost Last Few Minutes of Recordings
Update: it recorded onthe buses OK but lopped off the padded time at the end - did not record G&M, which was the nxt up on same channel because it "conflicted with other reservations". Recorded top gear but stopped it before end. Nothing else recording at that time. Put simply it is just...- guygrand

Yes it's a 9200 Software 1.00.23. The 2 programmes were consecutive 1hr shows on BBC2 8pm-9pm & 9pm-10pm. At the same time BBC1 9pm - 10.30pm (no probs there). Of course i didn't mean sky in my earlier post I meant Hummy Freesat. Am definitely not getting signals from more than one transmitter...- guygrand

It does not record what it is supposed to. It is set to start 1 min early and end 3 mins later. Whether the programme overruns I wouldn't know since, obviously, I am not watching it. Using the series link it invariably misses either beginning or ending and also records repeats of stuff it has...- guygrand

Many thanks for that. Looking on Amazon I see they also do a 'dongle' that can pick up stuff off the wi-fi as well. Brilliant, will be upgrading from my 51/2 yr old 9200. Strange thing is that Humax themselves don't explain this stuff anywhere, they would sell tons more if they did. I am a big...- guygrand

Am thinking of upgrading my 5 yr old 9200 & looking at the humax site I see a 160gb usb - fujitsu xena advertised as an accessory to the HDR fox freeview box. Excellent gomezz, many thanks. So without a freesat enabled tv set I could not guarantee recording 2 whilst watching a 3rd, as I can with a free view enabled set. That really shouldn't be a problem. Reading the blurbs for the hummy freesat recorder they all say that you can record 2 channels at the same time and watch 1 channel whilst recording another. I have owned a Humax 9200 for several years & that allows me to watch 1 channel while recording 2 others (subject to compatibility)...- guygrand
