      Did you mean Automatic Search rather than factory reset (I assume you mean Default Setting). A Default Setting has always cleared the previously stored channels on all these early Humax boxes whereas an Automatic Search has only cleared previously stored channels with later versions of software...

      I'm amazed at some of the comments in the posts above, my 9200 works fine. I do note that people are referring to having channels in the 800 range, this indicates that the 9200 is not tuned correctly so you're asking for problems. Give the machine a chance and set it up correctly.

      Yes I felt fairly satisfied when I discovered what was causing the problem and how easy it was going to be for the average DIYer. I don't think the Maplin cleaner did the job of removing the residue that stops the clock, a bottle of meths would probably have been cheaper and have done the job...

It's obvious that your cleaning fluid didn't work and I believe the only reason the clock worked after removing the super capacitor was because the action of soldering has disturbed the problem coating...

      I'd be tempted to reload the software when the cable arrives short of any other ideas. Follow this with a Default Setting and if you end up with channels in the 800 range then do a Manual Search as well. If all this fails to resolve the problem then I agree you may have a hardware fault.

      Are you using a 'null modem' cable. If you've got a multimeter you can check the connections from one end of the cable to the other. The only connections needed from one end to the other are Pin 2 to pin 3 at the other end. Pin 3 to pin 2 at the other end. Pin 5 to pin 5 at the other end...

      I should have made that clearer. What I meant was the actual end time of the recording was almost certainly 10:00 and if you had been watching the Hummy at the time of the end of the recording you will have seen this.
