Although I get the maintenance menu in the telnet session, as after restart I couldn't connect I tried fix-disk direct from the command line but that didn't work either. What a pian to get so far then fail :-(
Well, trying to fix my disk problems, loaded custom firmware, used telnet to connect to Hummy and put into mainteneance mode, all good. But when I reopen the telnet session it fails to connect "can't open port 23". Any ideas? Oh, and box had frozen - had to power off at mains to restart...
Well installed the CFW, and reports "Disk Overall Health - Failed" - indicating a failing disk. So all recordings will be copied off as soon as my external HDD arrives. Meantime I'll see if I cant use the disk utilities via telnet to fix it.....
Hmmm, telnet eh? Well I cen get to a telnet prompt in W7 which reads "Windows Telnet >" How do I connect to the Hummy from that point, anmd get the welcome screen - which in turn will allow me to restart in maintenance mode which will then allow me access to fix-disk. Whew!
Cripes, I had a read of the instructions for the custom firmware... Ok, it's ok'ish I think, fo me to do. I assume the fix-disk utility is accessed via the web interface diagnostics page?
Yes I recall - thats why the last time I gave up! I may have to try the custom firmware - it's a least free and I have a wireless connection established (I think - I did have anyway!)
Thanks for that - I may have a look at the custom firmware then as well. I presume (if using the external drive) I just connect to the rear USB port - or can I use the front? (rear has the wireless dongle in at present)
Well I had a look at that, and I'm still baffled (not very techy I'm afraid). My T2-1TB is exhibiting the same error as it did a couple of years ago - playback screen going black for up to 30 seconds if a channel is recording simultaneoulsly, and recordings "skipping" if made whilst watching a...
Agree - I find that one of the batteries sometimes seems to shift in the compartment, I generally just take the cover off and roll the batteries with my thumb, and all is ok. I guess I should glue a bit of foam inside the battery compartment lid to prevent this!
Well I did what I planned, went home, made a cup of tea, set Hummy to autotune, had tea and biscuits, came back to it, and as expected, mt EPG was back to normal with only one of each channel, so I guess the weather must have played a part yesterday. :)
To delete the individual recording I assume you used OPT+ >> Delete. You do exactly the same for the series folders from that "high level" view. In fact if you deleted the folder, that would also delete the contents.
'Cos I can set it to autotune whilst I cook tea :) ands I'm guessing I'll still get all the crap channels to clear out whether I do manual or auto tune.
