That's interesting to know, thanks. We recorded Spiderman Homecoming the other day and thought the surround sound was excellent, the best we've heard, shame about the film though!
Yes, I tried that and the USB drive had then appeared, but said it had no playable content. When I looked again, several hours later (although I did not look again in between) everything had appeared. This drive is formatted NTFS rather than EXT3, if that makes a difference.
Pleased to say, I can now see, and play with surround sound, all the files on Hummy's internal and external hard drives, on my LG home theatre. It certainly did take a long while for them to all appear, as you warned. That's a great result, thank you so much for all your help, I'd never have...
I can navigate the hdd from My Video using webif. Using Filezilla I see [USB Storage] under my video, but when I try to open it I get "Connection closed by server".
Many thanks.
The USB on my router is evidently to connect a modem, does not support storage :(
Anyway, I found an ethernet switch in my cupboard and that works well between Hummy and LG. I can now see the files on Hummy's internal drive from the LG and stream them over the ethernet...
Thank you for your thoughts, some very interesting ideas here. I believe the LG will stream content from LAN, although I have never tried it.
Connecting the LG to LAN is awkward, as the TV equipment is in the opposite corner of the house to the PC and router.... I have an ethernet over mains...
Since then I have copied my edited MP4 and MKV versions to a portable USB drive (which I normally use with the Hummy) and connected this direct to my LG Home Theatre. Both play fine with surround sound! This proves that I do not have a problem editing and saving surround sound from VideoRedo...
Strange, I was sure that I had posted these files a while ago before going on holiday!
Anyway, here they are now:
King of Thieves_20220605_2236.hmt is the original Hummy file - plays surround.
King of Thieves_20220605_2236 (scarpkg).hmt is generated by the sidecar package, from the original...
I have now managed to open the audio channels of my .mp4 file, from VideoRedo, in Wavepad. This confirms that all six audio channels are present and contain data, so the issue, for this file at least, must be the Hummy choosing not to play it as surround sound.
I have generally used H264.MP4 output from VideoRedo (I did not know about using M2TS and changing the extension). My first attempt was an MP4 and played stereo, but had no sidecar files, which I now know causes this problem. I will try generated sidecar files, using the package, for my MP4 file.
Thank you all for your interest. Here are 3 hmt files.
1) King of Thieves_20220605_2236.hmt is the original, generated by the Hummy, which plays in surround.
2) King of Thieves_20220605_2236 (scarpkg).hmt I generated using the sidecar package, from the original ts file. This plays in...
Thanks, Luke. I had already made an m2ts file in VideoRedo, but it did not appear on Hummy's list. I have now renamed this to .ts and it now appears. Sidecar package has generated new sidecar files for it, but no surround sound :(
The sidecar package does generate sidecar files for the unedited ts file, and this then plays with surround sound :)
Question is why the video packet size is wrong on the file I have edited in VideoRedo?
