By all means take a bow. I'm glad it's fixed, too!
One problem is that the initial symptoms were misleading (to me, at any rate). At first, the picture breakup was only on recordings made while we were away from home, and while the house was cold - hence the subject of the thread. It was only...
That's fine if you want to watch footage on a computer or something of similar intelligence. I'm not sure it helps in gettingt it to a humble TV though.

I installed all the cables I thought I would ever need about 10 years ago during a house extension exercise. It would be a lot more difficult to run extra cables now.
What I could possibly do is use a wireless video sender to carry the T2's recorded output to a TV in another room.
WT
He is talking about using an RF modulator - presumably taking its input from an analog output (phono or SCART). This would have to be set up to produce a modulated signal on a channel not used for Freeview - and the picture would have to be received using a remote TV's analog tuner.
Even if I...
Now, there's an idea! I did, in pre-SCART days distribute analog recordings from a VCR in that manner, but I somehow think it would leave a bit to be desired if I tried to do it with HD.
WT
It did when it was the only thing connected to the aerial, but the reported signal strength was down towards the minimum level which Humax recommend. In order to share the aerial with other devices, I would have needed to insert at least a passive splitter (which I didn't have readily to hand)...
What evidence do you have that something upstream seems to have been overloaded? I'm in a pretty poor signal area - on the outer fringes of Sutton Coldfield's coverage area, and the DA provided a gain of only 6dB. The amp with which I have replaced it has a gain of 12dB, and the signal strength...
Fair enough. I spend a lot of time in text-based usenet groups where individual words are usually emphasised by enclosing them in asterisks. I haven't seen that done here, and the use of capitals to emphasise the odd word seemed like a possible way to go. [I think I have only once "shouted" a...
But the link says (as you quote in a later post): "If your aerial worked fine (to one point) on the lower power transmissions before switchover, the higher power transmissions after DSO should enable you to split the signal 4 or even 6 times and still end up with the same signal level at each...
So it seems! Apologies for not taking your advice earlier. All I can say in my defence is that I tried to make an assessment of which suggestions appeared the most likely to bear fruit - without knowing anything about the credentials of those making the suggestions. My judgement at the time -...
If you're referring to my line of caps proclaiming that the problem was fixed, I considered that that was justified because that bit could easily have been missed by someone speed-reading the overall message.

Unless you're very quick, there's still a danger that it might find some unwanted channels beofre you stop it, if you're within range of any muxes on low UHF frequencies. that's why it's marginally safer to uplug the aerial.
Also, it might put your channels of choice in the 800's - with gash...
If you're in danger of picking up duplicates from multiple transmitters, the only safe way of proceeding is to tune manually, specifying the UHF channel (or frequency) of each of the muxes on your transmitter of choice. Before doing that, you need to delete all the existing stored channels by...
I quite agree. In particular, every time the firmware is updated and new features added, the downloadable version of the User Manual should be updated to reflect the changes.
AND, I can't understand for the life of me why the on-line version is in glorious monochrome. The screenshots MUST have...
That would be fine if the aerial were dedicated just to the Humax. But it's part of a distribution system which distributes both UHF TV and VHF radio to various points around the house. If I were to use a passive splitter, I suspect that the signal strength would fall below the 30% minimum...
And, in a later post, I said:
The picture on my HDR-FOX-T2 keeps breaking up, sometimes to the point of being unwatchable. When this happens, the signal strength and quality bars on the i-plate (and the Signal Detection menu) indicate reasonable strength but dire quality.
Precisely. Until DSO - and the boosting of SC's muxes - I couldn't get a reliable Freeview signal at all. It would work at some time but not others - so I didn't bother to buy a PVR until after DSO.
The four months to which I referred is just that. Everything worked just fine from September...
Looking at a map, you are probably a couple of miles further away from Lark Stoke, as a crow flies, than I am - just outside Warwick, so that's interesting. I imagine that reception might vary quite a lot from place to place within Redditch - 'cos its quite a hilly place.
WT
Yes, Lark Stoke is a possibility - about 20% of my neighbours have their aerials pointing at it. It's nearer to me than Sutton Coldfield, but very much less powerful. It's also got a better line of sight - the SC signal gets pretty close to the ground a few miles from me when it skims over the...
