      thanks black hole, as said before the aerial man told me that the signal was spot on and that i wouldnt need an upgrade, assumed he knew what he was talking about and he used his gadget to check the strength, replaced cables etc. looks as tho he simply came round on a good day!

      decided to have another look at manual scans on the EM muxes, and bingo, they are all there! weird behaviour, its gone a bit more cloudy out since this morning, it seems to be worse on clear warm days, wish i understood all this!

      so theres def no fix for the epg problem then?? anyone know if they plan to, it is a major problem with the units useability, obviously i could roll back but lose the bbc4 hd recordings

      all scanned back in, all 100% again, odd as it was a clear day when they vanished, or should i say night, as everything recorded overnight, but pics scrambled or gone at 0550 when i switched tv on again

      just happened again, been a good ten weeks since the last meltdown. just going thru a retune just the HD and minor muxes tho, and once again the huawei box remains unaffected, fingers crossed please!

      its not a biggy is it, most of my recordings are long standing series, whats a few seconds out of my day, i'll sit and wait for humax or, more likely, someone on here to fix it thanks in advance for those who mend stuff!

      so whats the best temporary workaround on this then, i've updated using the latest CF (2.22) with the FW (1.03.12) package, and i have the slow EPG problem, can i backtrack to keep the portal and BBC4HD solution, but have a speedier EPG, or is this fix still a work in progress?

      i've always used various series with a gap on the original unit without a problem, and have confirmed since i reinstalled the old one that i had used the wrong user name, irrelevant now as its being sent to devon to live with my mum!! all happy in the world again, all those precious HD...

      and i still cant get the auto mount to work, can watch the files on pc using other sharing software, so its obviously something i've typed in wrongly, can anyone see what it could be from the error report, not a directory, i guess is the key

      i think it'll be easier just to plug the old box back in and give my mum the 1tb one, i've got over 1tb of HD stuff saved on the external hard drive, stupid technology, why did humax decide to do that then, any idea? i tried but i failed! will be getting it all back to the old machine after...

      damn this stupid encryption thing, i've got loads of HD stuff saved on the external HDD, now that i've swapped t2's will all of this be unwatchable?? if i put the original t2 back then it'll be ok? why is it like this, is there someway i can get around this please? i never saw that coming, damn it!

      i didnt even look at the encryption bit, you probably have done a great job. i saw the new readers bit, but as i've been on here for ages i didnt read that either!! i've even been thru the stuff that climber PM'd be when i first set it up and i still cant get it to work 192.168.1.3 is on-line...
