Yes - certainly as good as broadcast tv. My broadband connection is about 5.6 meg which is fair but not outstanding. I believe netflix will cope with less.
Not that I'm aware of and from other comments about future development I guess it's unlikely. I bought an AppleTV box partly for Netflix and to integrate with my home network. That works very well but it is an expensive option unless you can get hold of a good second-hand one.
I live in Stroud Gloucestershire and the recommended transmitter is Ridge Hill though the Stroud and Wenvoe transmitters are also rated as good. Auto tuning brings up TV channels from all of these hence the duplicates, though 1.02.32 does bring up fewer.
I've manually retuned using Ridge Hill...
I had previously used manual tuning to overcome this problem and only updated to 1.02.32 because it supposedly sorted it - it doesn't! So bit of a waste of time really.
It does strike me as preposterous that a piece of consumer electronics can't handle such a basic function adequately. What's...
So - I have installed 1.02.32 and CF 2.20. Then did a manual retune and restored favourites and schedules from backup. It has picked up the new HD channels and Film 4 which I had lost. However I do have duplicates in the 800+ range - specifically BBC1 West Midlands and BBC1 West ( ch 1 and 833...
Have I missed something? Its been a while since I looked in but automatic retune used to be discouraged because of the problem with duplicate channels messing up the epg, causing problems with AR etc. Has something changed so that this is no longer an issue?
For the same reason we only have one TV. I guess we're quite old fashioned in the way we use TV - it is something we sit down to together for a couple of hours in the evening. So one set in the sitting room is all that is required. Never had and never wanted sets in the bedroom, kitchen etc...
Why more than one? There's not enough good TV to tax the abilities of a single HDR let alone multiples. Back in the analogue days I did have one PVR ( the TIVO ) for analogue and another ( Humax 8000T ) for Freeview but now one is quite enough.
Another interesting poll might be - "how long...
Today I received a letter from Sky announcing that they would make my move from O2 Broadband to Sky as smooth as possible. Nice of them considering I am not with O2, have no intention of moving to Sky and the letter was addressed to my son who hasn't lived at this address for 10 years and also...
Thanks Luke. It's disappointing and a little surprising - my old 2001 TIVO with a single analogue tuner would start the recording whilst you continued to watch the buffered programme without interruption. Even if the recording was on a different channel.
Assuming that the HDR also keeps the...
A few days ago I was watching a programme which I had paused a couple of times so I was maybe 15 minutes behind. A message appeared saying that recording of another programme on the same channel was about to start and did I want to cancel the delayed playback. I didn't really but the message...
I can't comment on the Toppy as I've never used one but I had similar feelings when I changed from the TIVO I'd used for over 10 years to the HDR T2. It just felt so clunky ( and to be honest the Toppy screenshots posted earlier look messy to me ).
All I can say is don't be too hasty - most of...
Because the noise from those zillion speakers will drive your family and neighbours mad and you will end up doing most of your listening via headphones.
It used to be accepted wisdom in hi-fi circles that fewer speakers were generally better because of the disproportionate cost and difficulty of...
I'm beginning to think I'm on the wrong forum - we have one TV in the sitting room and that's it. Oh, and a freeview card on the Mac in the library.
On the other hand we do have a radio in every room in the house ( and the attic ). Plus 2 PIR activated radios in the garden which are supposed to...
It's very curious but whereas I have high demands of music reproduction TV sound scarcely interests me at all. I guess I spent about £7500 on the music system about 10 years ago ( and apart from some replacement valves, nothing since ) but I'm quite happy with the native sound from my 32"...
Same here. In the early days, when I used an analogue TIVO pvr but had Freeview just for BBC4 and Film4, Freeeview was very flaky. After changeover I continued for a while using the TIVO with a Phillips STB - that was terrible as the Freeview signal was poor and the Phillips box unreliable. When...
My Humax is also set to manual but I'm not clear how this would solve the sleep issue with the Devolos - it didn't for me. The problem seemed to be that they took so long to wake up that the Humax concluded there was no network connection and gave up. Maybe the wake up time is a bit variable...
I experienced similar issues to David when initially trying to connect via wifi. Also there often seemed to be timing problems - ie the wifi would try to connect before the HDR was ready, fail and give up but then would manually connect OK. I gave up and switched to ethernet connection via...
