I think what you need is a router that will connect to the Mi-Fi via a wireless connection. Not sure how many there are, most seem to only allow WAN via a wired port. I'll keep my eyes open for one.
BTW - what Mi-Fi device do you have?
I bought one of these the otherday:
Edimax 6218N (BTW this EBay shop was the cheapest I found)
I have my iPhone 4 pluged into the USB port, and a 3G tethering plan on the phone. The router then provides the tethered phone connection to any device you have connected via it's Wi-Fi. The router...
As posted in another thread my HDD got corrupted again.
I've run fix-disk, and it seems to be error free now. Smarttools are also happy.
BUT - It won't format via the Humax Menu - reporting the drive is too big (standard Humax HDR T2 1TB drive)
I did have this issue before, but can't...
That was me!
My HDD got corrupted in August (IIRC) after the box was 1 month old. Refused to format, saying HDD too big.
Same thing happend again. First recorded programs get choppy, then they fail to record.
Trying to run Fix-Disk and what not, and reformat now. Just put the box on a...
SMART Status : PASSED
Model Family : Seagate Pipeline HD 5900.2
Device Model : ST31000424CS
Serial Number : 5VX2W996
HDD corrupted again - to the point where it won't format. possibly suspect a power failure during recording, so I'm going to reformat via telnet, and have put the...
Hi all,
My NAS box sometimes gets hits from the internet on its open ports, but is set to block after 5 invalid hits.
Is there any way the Hummx can be set to do similar, or at least log any incoming requests?
I know its something that should be done on the router, but it's pretty old and...
I've been a FF user for years, before that IE briefly, then Netscape prior to that! In fact I think it was called Mosaic back in 1993?
I've now switched to Chrome, mostly cause Google bookmarks got dropped from Firefox. If you have a smart phone, or multiple PC's, Chrome is fantastic - you can...
Also - if you have a mouse scroll wheel, just hold CTRL down and scroll the wheel slowly. It should zoom in / out, may depend on you driver settings though.
Yeah it's very useful. Especially if you run silly Resolutions (I'm on 1600 x 1200). Works in most OS too; Windows / Ubuntu / Mac - I think? - I should know in a few weeks for sure:D
Phew - I deleted every recording off the box, did a reset and reboot, and the Hummy asked if I wanted to format the HDD. Format went ok, and I was able to put the factory Firmware back and then the custom one and WebIF.
So touch wood fingers crossed etc - it's looking ok.
Hope there not an...
You misunderstand. My USB HDD is 3TB, partioned as 1TB EXT3 and 2 TB NTFS. The Humax sees them as 2 separate drives.
But the problem is it can not format its own 1TB internal drive!
Well copying the files to a directly plugged USB was more problematic than I thought. Some stuff would copy, then it would bomb out saying the HDD was full.
So to cut the story short - I plugged the 3TB USB drive into my PC and FTP'd the lot over to the HDD. It took a while!
So now when I...
I'm happy swapping out drives - I put a 500GB drive in my old Hummy when the 160GB got full.
However, since the HDR is only 6 weeks old, I'd rather not open it for warranty reasons! I got it at John Lewis and I seem to remember they said it had a 2 year warranty.:)
I've just picked up a 3TB...
Thanks for that! The MD5 check sums appear to match, so fix-disk and the library files seem to be ok. I ran e2fsck on sda3 and that was fine, so the only errors now are on sda2. I think I'll get a big USB drive and copy everything over and reformat TBH.
Yep - I have the 1TB HDR. I'll give it another go jack's way and then try fix-disk overnight. If it still doesn't finish, I'll just have to bite the bullet and pick up a big HDD tomorrow.
Lots of errors on /dev/sda2, failed on pass 2 due to lack of memory. Giving it another pass now to see if it gets further.
humax# umount /dev/sda1
humax# umount /dev/sda2
humax# umount /dev/sda3
humax# e2fsck /dev/sda1

/dev/sda1 has been mounted 140 times without...
Not sure if fix-disk is running correctly. I run ./fix-disk and it ask if I'm sure (Y/N)
If I reply 'Y', it looks like it aborts. If I type 'yes', I just get an endless screen of 'y' scrolling up. Is that whats supposed to happen, the Wiki pages says it reboots into maintenance mode?
