  The Humax is connected to the router via Powerline adaptors and the PC is directly connected to the router, what sort of speed should we be getting? It can fluctuate between 1 and 5 MB/s via ftp. Are there any tweaks I can make to the Humax or PC to speed up the transfer? Is there any software...

  Just added a recording via the Humax Guide and noticed an icon that I've not seen before. Took a photo but it didn't come out very well, it's the icon on the left. What does this icon indicate? [EDIT] I did check the wiki but it's not shown.

  I keep getting a message along the lines that content sharing is disabled on our Humax, I've checked on the box though and it is definitely enabled.

  Could do that but I mostly control the humax remotely to download files to my media server for processing when I get back in, and when I am in the humax is not always turned on. Not a problem, Just thought of it today while setting some files to download.

  No, I download the .ts files and crop out any leading or trailing audio before converting to mp3 and adding in full tags.

  Fair enough. All I can say is that I have used it for many years (must be 10+) and have never had an issue with it or adware. None of my AV or Adware scanners ave ever flagged it, but if you do not feel safe installing it I would recommend getting other software to burn your discs.
