The portal has been very slow for me recently, although I can stream from my DLNA server no problem. Has anyone else noticed it running slow? I wondered whether Humax might have been making some modifications to it, perhaps in preparation for SkyPlayer finally going live... (Could be good...
"Chase play" means watching a recorded programme while it's still being recorded, hence what I described is the situation you say you are having trouble with. It definitely works on mine because I tried it last night: two recordings in progress, no problem calling up the Media list and watching...
You certainly should be able to chase play one recording while another is in progress. I've definitely done it. If it's not working on your box then it might be worth logging a fault call with Humax about it.
Sorry, not to my eyes, on my setup.
From the link ChrisDaniels posted: 1080p25 is a compromise format which uses more or less the same bitrate as 1080i50.
According to this posting on the BBC's R&D blog, BBC HD in Freeview is now broadcasting HD in both 1080i and 1080p:
A great deal of material is shot natively at 1080p25 ... Within a single programme interlaced may be used for moving credits, cross-fades and studio shots whereas progressive...
As has been pointed out elsewhere, YouView is a UK-only initiative. Humax sell DTT PVRs in lots of other European markets so it's a reasonable bet that they will retain some development/third level support resource for those product lines alongside YouView.
I'd add a caveat to that: how well it works will depend also on the particular DLNA client. For example, I know that my Sony TV's DNLA client can't play .ts files streamed from my Mac, but can play the same programmes if I convert them to .mpg files. I therefore expect that, if the Humax...
I'm going on what Bob_Cat said in this thread.
He did say: "...finding other devices which support DLNA *with* DTCP-IP has been difficult". On the other hand, framedtoo on this forum stated that: "that narrows it down to PC's with xp sp2 or above". I would have thought that would cover the...
I bought the EW-7711UTn and tried it in my HDR-T2 last night. Plugged directly in to the rear USB socket it got no WiFi signal. However, it comes with a USB extension cable which is about 5in long and, importantly, is bendable. I connected the dongle to the rear USB port using the extension...
Sky+ remote record can be done online or by SMS, it doesn't have to be a smartphone.
I used to be able to schedule recordings on the EyeTV box connected to my Mac using the TVTV online EPG. As you say, it means keeping an eye on TV schedules when you're actually supposed to be doing other...
Those channels renamed themselves on my box without me doing a rescan. I didn't have any recording schedules in place on those channels so I don't know how the rename might have affected those.
The standard DTT EPG covers "today" + 7 days. Given the problems that have occurred in the past with third-party EPGs - such as the 4TV 14-day EPG which disappeared in 2010 leaving a number of PVRs with no EPG - I'll stick to the standard one, thanks.
If you're going on a two-week holiday...
That's an HDMI sync issue. Many people (including me) have reported that this is worse since 1.02.07 - see this thread on Digital Spy, and numerous references to it in the HDR Fox-T2 threads on AV Forums. The problem Andy S is reporting is that the box puts itself back in to standby almost...
I'm pretty certain it's not actually the same portal web site that you get via a Humax in the UK: Tagesschau is a German news channel and Maxdome is a German video on demand service.
At least the fact that they have YouTube and software update on there could be promising for UK users.
I'd have thought that the containers would always be handled in software/firmware. I suspect that is why some containers work differently depending on whether they are presented via DLNA or HDD/USB ie there are different code modules for those two interfaces. My expectation would be that the...
Indeed it might. To be fair, PhilipL who wrote the first AV Forums post I quoted, also wrote in an earlier post:
the Broadcom chip in this CE device (same goes for most CE devices) does all the video decoding in hardware. This means these devices don't need huge powerful CPUs like a PC that...
I wouldn't hold your breath. According to this post on AV Forums the video decoding is handled entirely in hardware so cannot be amended or upgraded:
It can only decode what it was made to decode, the CPU isn't powerful enough to decode using software codecs, so it can't be upgraded or made...
