I tested with the same remuxed recordings I used previously, now with v2.6, and it was fine with both MPEG and H264 video. I'll do a bit more testing and will post if I get any unexpected results. Thanks for the fix.
Thanks for the sidecar updates.
I had noticed with earlier versions of sidecar that the nts files created for recordings (H264 video) that had been remuxed with ffmpeg had unusually large values corresponding to the offset at 0x18 (onscreen time bar value) for some early frames (typically 2-9...
I spent three years living in Uppsala and I understand Swedish quite well so I had a look at the manual. I have since found an English version of this manual: download link here. The unit is similar to the HD-FOX with recording to an external USB drive in ext3 format. My advice is similar to...
If the disk is in ext3 format there are tools to recover deleted files. You could try something like extundelete from sourceforge.net. You will need to be running this under a Linux OS. If you search online there are resources to help you make a bootable CD or USB stick to run, for example...
There was some discussion of this problem in the original sidecar thread here. H264 video is also affected but it is not noticeable on-screen. It is with mpeg video at reverse speeds of x2 and x4 that you really see it. I think it is a significant defect but perhaps I am just picky? @prpr is...
Out of interest, I presume these new sidecar variants still have the non-monotonically increasing timestamps bug? This is most obvious with reverse search at x2 and x4 speeds with mpeg video, and causes pixellation.
To update, the YouTube-dl downloads are working fine with the swap file enabled. This includes repeat downloads which either crashed or locked-up the unit before. Thanks for the help.
Thanks @prpr, @Black Hole and @af123. I will turn on the swap file and see if my Youtube-dl downloads work. One more thing, does sysmon log the CPU usage on the HD-FOX? It does seem to monitor network traffic but not CPU. Unless my installation is a bit broken, of course.
It looks like the swapper package is already installed; it is a dependency of lighttpd. However, on the HDR-FOX this package installs a 128MB file called '.swap0' on /mnt/hd3 which is the reserved swap space. My HD-FOX USB drive only has one partition and I cannot find such a file; though it...
Is YouTube-dl working OK on the HD-FOX? I have been trying to download some reasonably large recordings (ca. 2GB) but keep running into the same problem (tried 2 different episodes): the initial download works, but while fixing the "malformed AAC audio stream" with ffmpeg the fixed file reaches...
Now that @af123 has figured out encryption works on the HDR-FOX, there is a method to read the key from the internal memory, but I do not know if this is possible without custom firmware.
I have another idea which may or may not be helpful. If you make a brief recording from a high def. channel...
Another useful feature, if you have the same keys on your HDR- and HD-FOX boxes, is that doing a network copy from a HD-FOX to a HDR-FOX using the HDR-FOX to start the copy procedure with the remote control, decrypts on the fly.
I'll have a look at at a high-def recording from the YouView DTR-T1000 when I have time. That model came between the HDR-FOX and the HDR-2000T; it may be that YouView made them beef up their encryption and they have used this on later models?
One idea. It may not be possible without custom...
It probably makes little difference but I am using 01(x16) as the decryption key. The reason is that this is one of the two weak keys in DES (the other being FE (x16)]. Weak keys cause all sixteen subkeys to be equal and make encryption and decryption modes behave identically. This should give...
To add to the above, on the HD-FOX, decryption through Webif (in-place or queued) currently works if the recording was made with the native encryption key, but not with a custom key.
FYI, on my HD-FOX (running 1.03.02) nugget cryptokey lists the native encryption key as all zeros. Webif>Diagnostics lists the correct key. I appreciate that the beta version of nugget is a work in progress.
Edit:
I rebooted then gave the unit a new key and now nugget has picked up the native...
