Thanks for the detailed answer, Black Hole. I am not sure it is relevant, but my router assigns a static IP to each of my two Humax boxes.
Just for my understanding, through what means do you measure throughput between your powerlines?
Also, is there any reason why one Humax on strong WiFi...
Thanks. But do we understand the bottleneck? Black Hole was not surprised I was having issues. The Comtrends were routinely employed by BT to distribute HDTV. Is it all to do with the variable ability of the electrical network to transport data? Or is the Humax throughput borderline for what I...
Thanks for the reply.
Indeed it’s possible to connect the two devices directly as a test, but not as a permanent solution, even if it worked. Similarly, I will try your suggestion to connect them to the same switch as a test, but it doesn’t resolve the problem, as I cannot route the cable...
I think they are not HomePlug, a different standard, but same idea. The other day we watched something HD perfectly until my son started playing on the Xbox (same network, WiFi). While he was downloading an update, perfect; when he started playing, unwatchable.
The problem being that today the...
Thanks. I don’t yet have all the info. They are connected to my router through Comtrend adapters. Trying to figure out what behaviour to report other than “throughput problems”.
I am having network throughput problems that I am trying to debug. If I connect the two HDRs directly using a network cable, should they be exhibiting the same functionality as if connected to the same network?
Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion. If one spells "root" with a 'b', as in "boot" (🤣), then the following sequence indeed sets Media to point to the USB drive next time it is pressed:
DELAY30 MEDIA (0x6f) BLUE (0x1e) RIGHT (0x14) OK (0x13) DELAY5 DOWN (0x15) OK (0x13) DELAY5 EXIT (0x16)
I believe that...
Hello, and many thanks for ir. I am the OP of the typing bug.
If you can also test that a macro called root is indeed executed on start it would be great. I created the following macro called root, which navigates to a first USB drive attached to the HDR-Fox T2:
DELAY30 MEDIA (0x6f) BLUE...
Thanks for the guidance, I also asked if the problem is a regression with the root macro. If root works for other macros, I will try the method you employ before I invest further on the ir macros.
Thanks for the report. Is it an email or a thread I could follow?
I was able to create a macro called root; I pasted the name, recorded the macro and I was able to save it (the button to save is enabled after one key-stroke on the virtual remote). When I click on the macro on the WebIF, it does...
Thanks once again. Because the Humax remembers where it last was, the button will only work first time around. So I thought to add it as a start-up sequence, which would mean that Media would default to that after reboot. I could not implement/test that, as one has to name the macro "root" and I...
"Tomorrow", he said, pull the other one. It worked beautifully, many thanks.
Is it obvious how I could set a shortcut on the remote so I get to Media >> Storage (blue) >> USB menu >> Lounge with one press?

Thank you all very much. The thread notification failed, so I only just saw this. Some more studying for me tomorrow, methinks.

Edit: eiher my phone did not show the notification or I missed it; anyway, correcting my statement above with the strikethrough.
Hello,
Many thanks for the wealth of information available.
I now have two HDR-Fox T2, both running 1.03.12 (kernel HDR_CFW_3.13), both set to recursively auto-decrypt (that took a wee while on 800GB of data on the original one :-)) and want to watch on one what the other has recorded. By...
Ok, but the output of smartctl -l selftest /dev/sda that I posted was less than 60 minutes after I started smartctl -t long /dev/sda. I have not got home yet to see the final outcome.
Thanks /df. So, the smartctl -t long /dev/sda test finished really quickly, in less than an hour? And I should acknowledge the errors on the Web and move on?
To clarify: last night "Check for updates" gave a shedload of updates, which I did, also last night.
This morning I ran smartctl -l selftest /dev/sda and given message about outdated tests I checked for updates again; none.
And here we go:
humax# smartctl -l selftest /dev/sda
smartctl 6.4 2015-06-04 r4109 [7405b0-smp-linux-2.6.18-7.1] (local build)
