HDR-Fox T2 and HD-Fox T2 receiver- any common hardware?
Hi. Is there any common hardware between the PVR recorder and the single-tuner receiver? Maybe the power supply card is the same, so a receiver might donate theirs to a broken PVR? Thanks- alexp

Well, it's only hard work once, assuming I don't change the config, or, more accurately, want to save a backup of an enhanced config with more features. The backup is only in case, one day far far into the future, after the apocalypse, there is no hummy server running to do the job anymore...- alexp

I already had USB-fun loading the firmware. Fox T2 doesn't like the Freecom Databar USB sticks, and that's all I have now. I gave away all older ones as they seem to suddenly be too small after a couple of years. In the end a Freecom USB Toughdrive (disk) worked fine. Duplication in USB storage...- alexp

I presume there is no harm in also specifying the other packages along with auto-unprotect, ie it doesn't end up with duplication? Point taken about betaftpd. I've only tried backup and restore of recordings, but enhanced access might be useful. I would build up the list, but at the moment the...- alexp

Thanks, that's perfect. At the moment I have a minimal installation comprising the web interface, auto-unprotect to clear the ENCs, and recursive-auto-decrypt enabled. Hi. At the moment, the custom firmware is a download, for manual installation to the HDR-Fox T2. Subsequently, the PVR downloads the full web interface, and you can download whatever latest-version packages you want to the PVR via a PC. I think this is the correct scenario. I'm warming to this. What is there to watch out for when leaving "auto-unprotect" and "recursive-auto-decrypt" on? From the point of view of non-tech user's actions and behaviours, who won't be able to stop and fix, and who might view CF with suspicion if things go wrong.- alexp

I sympathise, but I am not the only user (hence 3 pvr's !). What happens if someone tries to chase play, or play soon after a recording finishes before all the background processing for this has occurred? I'll get beaten up if things go wrong! ...recursive auto-decrypt on the top level folder...- alexp

Well, the way I understand it, programs are decrypted on the way off, and when copying back to a different machine they will be encrypted again but according to that machine, so its all portable. Whereas, if, say, you tried to directly copy from the original disk but to a new disk in a...- alexp

Hi Luke, I presume you also have to provide power to the drive in addition to the USB-SATA adapter (which I don't have)? I like the idea of fast direct copy without de-re-encrypting though. I wanted to avoid getting extra hardware I would probably never use. I don't need to exchange yet but...- alexp

Further to my speed tests above, I also tried out a round-trip copy using a FAT32 partition. This was using the same recording and same USB disk, with both FAT32 and NTFS partitions. The overall results are: Fox -> USB (NTFS): 18 GB/hour USB (NTFS) -> Fox: 48...- alexp

I connected a 3TB disk to the PVR but it didn't recognise it. I assumed it was behaving as it would for the internal disk limit. So why did it not recognise it?- alexp

The transfer back to Fox took longer, 22:18 compared with 19:00. To double check I ran it again, with no other LAN traffic, Kaspersky AV off, Windows firewall and defender off, filezilla process priority set to to high. Same result. So that's 39.5 GB/hr from the Fox and 33.6 GB/hr back to Fox...- alexp
