WHEHEY!!!! It worked, or at least in my case: net use y: "\\192.168.1.50\My Video" /persistent:yes did.
Any idea why I would have to do this for the T2 but not the SSD plugged in to the router?
Yes, HDR Fox T2 and it is Samba I use. The packages I have installed are shown below. Samba (for me) works fine and I can move stuff around the network no problem. The only problem I have is getting the T2 when mapped as a network drive to survive a reboot of both itself and the laptop.
What am I missing please?
I have no problem setting the T2 as a 'mapped network drive' to my laptop (Windows 10 pro) and all works fine however if I put the T2 in standby using the button on the remote and turn the laptop off when I then turn both of them back on I get 'local device name is...
Based on experience you can get other DLNA players (but not all) to work on encrypted on the Firestick but not without loss of subtitles &/or ff/rwd &/or pause &/or stuttering as if the frame rate isn't quite right.
The last one I had working was called Archos but it is no longer available and...
What's needs squaring?
This thread is about Kodi on the Firestick in conjunction with the Humax, not VLC on the Firestick in conjunction with the Humax.
If someone has the same need as me regarding subtitles and has a Firestick; Kodi solves the problem. I couldn't care less about whether it is...
Did that earlier, waited until it was showing as indexed and then rebooted and double checked it was showing as indexed first before trying to play via DLNA.
I have just recorded some of BBC News HD which shows on the Humax as encrypted and:
SMB sees the file but won't play it
FTP sees the file but won't play it
DLNA does not even see the file
One other thing I have just done which I did not do yesterday is test FTP and providing things are...
I have just set the Humax up as DLNA via Kodi and the Firestick and the DVB subs work but it loses the ability to ff/rwd and pause.
I have only tried DLNA on stuff already decrypted so don't know what would happen if they weren't decrypted and no point me trying due to the loss of the above...
Posting this in case it helps someone else.
It has been an annoyance over previous years with subtitles going out of sync on some programmes so have had a fiddle today and this works like a dream for me.
Put Kodi on Firestick and set up an SMB share to the Humax. The files including SD need to...
If you have a Firestick 4k you can resolve the problem by watching via the Firestick as DLNA. (No need to decrypt)
Install 'Archos Video Player' (which is free) on the Firestick and set the default player within Archos to 'MX Player' (also free). Also set within MX Player to always use SW...
I use a Firestick 4K and a HDR Fox T2 and my two pence worth is:
Yes, VLC will play encrypted HD via DLNA but you lose the ffwd/rwd functions and the picture to me appears choppy (as if frames are being dropped) plus the audio is slightly out of sync.
I have tried numerous DLNA players on the...
Just found this on Crucial's website for the MX500:
Life Expectancy: 500GB drive: 180TB Total Bytes Written (TBW), equal to 98GBper day for 5 years.
I think I should be ok even if Crucial are overstating things, on average per week I watch maximum three hours from the pvr. (I therefore record...
This one below. A 500gb is more than adequate for me. Mini Tool will automatically/allow you to size the partitions how you want them if you are putting a bigger SSD in. You can even go 500GB HDD to 250SSD.
From what I have previously read there would have to be an immense amount of TB's written before problems may surface and for £27.50 I don't mind the gamble.
Tried the pvr with padded feet and on thick cardboard. The 'noise' from the HDD was not loud it was just there, more like 'white noise'...
It was a second hand Crucial 480 from Ebay for £27.50. Crucials own software shows that it had been used for 336 hours. If it lasts 27.5 months I will be happy and there was one reason and one reason only for changing it and that was to stop the background noise of the HDD which in fairness...
I have just done this due to changing to an SSD and cloned (not copied) the original drive via Mini Tool Partition Wizard (It's free).
The bad news is I had to buy a 3.5" caddy for £4.00 (delivered) off Ebay) to be able to do it.
I did it two weeks ago and have had absolutely no problems...
The easy way is to enable Kodi's DLNA/UPnP server function and then access from the HDR via Media >> Storage (blue) >> Network. Only compatible content will be listed.
Out of interest if you have Kodi on a Windows 10 pc (in a different room) that is part of the Fox T2 network can you control...
