Network keeps disconnecting
My 4000T has suddenly started disconnecting and reconnecting the network. It's variable but quite frequent, it drops and then quickly reconnects. There doesn't appear to be a problem with any other device in the house using wifi. You can see the message come up while watching live TV, recording...- Jeddy

Well that's interesting. Again, Thurs I started getting problems while watching Dragons Den (it was being recorded but I was watching about 10mins delayed). Problems started about 40mins into the prog (i.e. would have been 20:40ish and continued to the end of the recording - occasional...- Jeddy

Re '70% of what' to clarify, when I refer to 70% and 100% signal strength I am using the Signal Test on the box itself - similar with quality. I have no knowledge of what this is 70% of - whatever Humax have decided it is 70% strength of. The aerial leads go from the loft through walls (i.e. out...- Jeddy

Currently the 4000 is giving me 100% strength and quality on tuner 1 and 98% and 100% on tuner2. I have a signal booster in the loft - I was only getting 70% signal (and IIRC 100% quaity) without that, but still having the same problems (which is why I installed it!). So if I have a signal problem with the PVR while ordinary TV is ok, there is little point in checking the HDD? Last week Dragons Den started breaking up half way through while we were watching live through the 4000, so I changed to using the TV tuner and we watched the end from that and it was...- Jeddy

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded Standard Edition, Installer (Vista-) which then installed on my W11 PC. It looks like I should click 'All'. Having said which, I'm not sure if my edit to the above makes a difference? Namely I added 'Checking the signal quality shows 100% but drops to 0% if it...- Jeddy

Hi, I'm having problems with 4000 (6 years old) which sometimes pixelates, temporarily freezes etc. This happens on recordings and live TV. Watching TV directly (using TV tuner which is last in RF chain) seems fine suggesting something on the PVR. I've done a manual retune choosing the HD...- Jeddy

Hard drive problem?
I do get the broken recording icon together with 'This program failed to record because there was no program broadcast on time' or whatever the exact message is a certain amount, however invariably the recording then proceeds to replay normally (although maybe there is a problem in the last few...- Jeddy

Thanks. Yes, jumping back fixes the problem for me too. I have had recordings ending before they should have, but as you say, they show as 50mins not 60 and the time reflects that, the odd bit was everything said it was a 60min recording but it just refused to play the end, that was new...- Jeddy

Thanks, I know exactly what you mean and I regularly do that (and my heart misses a beat) too, but this isn't that problem. The Jan problem seemed to sort itself out. More recently I have had a few crashes which is unusual, I've had one recording which showed 60mins recorded but only played to...- Jeddy

I've finally got around to doing this (not least as the drive is doing funny things again such as a couple of crashes, a period of silence after skipping etc.) Any comments on health would be appreciated.- Jeddy

I don't think I've ever filled up the disk that much, however that it was over 5GB again does make me wonder if it was the same problem as I had that started all this off! Interesting question, don't 'normal' files have a fairly small number of suffixes? .hmt, .nts, .ts, .thm, hmi, .mp4 etc...- Jeddy

I was thinking more of automatically deleting files with temporary suffixes e.g. .part, .DECRYPT etc.. once they get over xx days old? Just looked up Super 8 - that's not my sort of film at all!! Weird, I obviously must have done it for some reason - watching it wouldn't have been the reason...- Jeddy

Interesting, I thought I'd have a look at what files I have using filezilla. I've no idea what Super 8 is!! Curious the date on the file is 2016 but last modified 28/11/21! I'm assuming this is 5GB of unusable file which somehow needs to be deleted?- Jeddy

Ok, that's not ideal when the average punter (like me) who just uses the supplied packages without knowing what's going on behind the scenes and uses the standard interface can't see the files. I wonder what else I have lying around in there?! Or maybe they'll get deleted once the disk gets full...- Jeddy

It was an unusually large download at 3 hours, although I guess given the increasing length of some films etc. maybe an increase in the default size wouldn't be a bad idea, I'm assuming the extra 128MB is on disk so you're not robbing Peter to pay Paul. A useful feature - I think it surprised...- Jeddy

Well that's useful, I resubmitted the download request and it started where it left off, i.e. at 80.2% Quickly downloaded the rest and all seems to work now! Thanks!!- Jeddy
