  I tried that for the removal of the G icon (which I assume is the guidance icon) - still appears, even after restarting my browser (Firefox). What point of refinement am I likely to be missing?

  You're right - but the real problem is that I need better glasses, as I couldn't cope with the small characters. As I also said - I do it on a regular basis, but where I can read the info more easily.

  Looks like you need to investigate the partition tables for the 3 HDDs which report Win95 partitions, as these (as quoted) overlap the NTFS partitions, which isn't a good position to be in. Once you've sorted that, you can use the UUID method to get unique mounts, or you can do it by label...

8. Providing Temporary Internet to a Non-Networked HDR-FOX
  
  I've no solution, just a comment: At one point I was trying to connect my HDR via wifi to either of my 2 routers (one configured as an access point). They were both slightly different models of Netgear DG834. One connected, but the other didn't, and I was surprised as the one which didn't was...

  I'm using FF - IE only gets used for those sites which demand it! I've used a few Netgear routers, and had no problems. I noticed that more than a few people had problems with this particular series of router from Technicolour/Thomson

  Sadly mine is a TG589vn, and the GUI seems to be really broken - I can change settings to anything I want, but it just ignores them. Fortunately it does seem to always allocate the same IP address (mostly). I have achieved more than I could initially, mostly be editing the saved configuration...

  Watch out for 7 port hubs - these are (usually) already daisy chained internally, operating as 4ports+3ports, and, further, I've had some sorts of failure with a couple of samples

  @af123 - thanks for that. I've now installed crashdiag in readiness @tonybonner - that helps me to see what to review next time. The only info I ever see in my crash log is that the box has crashed at xxx and some packages have been disabled.

  I, too, would be interested in pointers as to determining crashes, as I've had a number of these which say only that the box has crashed on booting - I suspect that this can happen if a valid internet connection doesn't happen quickly enough (which seems to be more likely with my changed router...

  I had the situation where RS proved not to be a great deal of use - my internet dropped now and again and could not be relied on to stay up for 2 weeks (and I couldn't work out a reliable way of rebooting it). I'm hoping that, with a new (different) modem/router on a newly installed FTTC...

  These programmes are aimed at a young audience. The shots which included the audience suggest that this series was very well received, in contrast to some previous, which seemed to leave the audience nonplussed. The balloon failure, and the lack of comment was interesting - very few presenters...

  I've done another update, since it had again been updated, cleared the browser cache (having a bit of trouble with my version of FF - easier to close all tabs and FF and restart FF), and now it is showing correctly. Much thanks.
