I've continued trying to get this to work without success. Entering the details in modsettings does not produce a shared directory... seems to be the main issue...WHY
I've had various error messages in the scanmounts.log the latest being:
192.168. 1.66 not responding..
also before that...
Yes I've experienced this message on 2 occasions both times I was simultaneously recording 2 Hi Def channels whilst playing back a third Hi Def recording. I was 45 mins into playback when it was not possible to proceed with playback. Interestingly once recording had finished it was still not...
a further development to post #168
It is now possible in Windows Explorer to see the H2 directory and its Media contents in the H1 network connection (it is possible to file copy from H2 via H1 to my PC)
So the directory connection is there but neither through webif or on the Humax1 itself can...
I have set things up as follow:
H1(destination) with auto-mount (with CIFS) & removed Samba.
H2(source) uninstalled auto-mount & CIFS but left Samba on.
This gives me a shared directory on H1, but no directory of H2 in H1s shared directory, all I can assume is that auto-mount is not...
I have both Humax boxes with auto-unprotect and unencrypt installed. I'm not getting the required directories setup in the first place so cann't try playing a video in shared mode, incidently works fine in network mode plays both ways (H1 to H2 & H2 to H1) .
I was wondering if it was because...
The My Video directory has now disappeared in Webif????
I assume once you've edited the settings in modsettings it creates [SHARED]/Humax2/My Video....... in my case I don't get another directory inside Humax2 and therefore no shared videos on H2.
I've run modsettings on H2 looking at H1 and...
Excellent Black Hole, but still cann't see the recordings in the shared directory from Humax1 looking at H2, but I can in webif.
I don't have a [SHARED] Humax2/My Video directory when using the Humax1.
I've been trying to get my setup to work. Sofar with no success!
I wonder if the Samba/CIFS setup I have is correct: namely in webif/service management I have Samba & CIFS as "on" in autostart up & status in both Humax's. Is that all for Samba/CIFS setup????
The setting up of the modsettings...

Thanx again Black Hole, but once again having re read all the parts it looks impossible for me to follow, I think I should wait till you write it up. A step by step guide would be much appreciated, at the moment it means too much cross referencing for me to follow.
Wow, that gives me alot to think about, didn't realise all this had been covered, I'll start to wade through it, it does look abit daunting however, especially :( for a silver haired old git like me.
Thanx found it here: http://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Custom_Firmware_Package_Notes#Network_Shares_Automount
I can currently play a video thats on my pc via my Humax, but only shared videos, does this command make none shared videos on my pc playable aswell?
If not I can currently play shared...
I now have Samba & CIFS installed and is reported as running on the Humax via webif. Now what? What do I do? Is that it? Do I need to do anymore, if not I cann't detect any changes. What does Samba do exactly?
The main cursor pad left/right works fine, haven't used that method before, simple but effective thanx.
When H2 is modified and I've logged onto remote scheduler (rs) with my current logon I will presumably be able to find the 2 different Humax's then??
What advantages would there be by...
I now have a second Humax on my wireless network (one upstairs & now one downstairs).
I've been unable to find any tips/info on the Forum. I'm sure there will be, but where?
If not some pointers would be appreciated. Both Humax's see each other and my pc sees both Humax's. So I can ftp/file...
Well I'll have another go at moding.
SUCCESS!
I've learnt abit this morning!
1. Don't repair something that ain't broke, I already knew that but didn't follow my own maxim did I.
2. How to use Telnet, didn't need it, but interesting all the same
3. Just use FTP to place a file at the...
