HDR Fox T2 losing 1st 10 channels (+ HD equivalents)
It is certainly odd - I have been running multiple units for many years with tunefix and never had a similar problem before. I wonder if that has been a recent change in the transmitter's output. Interestingly the MUX info from the unit that hasn't been playing up is as attached- mumble_myopia

Thanks v much well that was an education!! - never seen the settings for tunefix before. Ironically I was also going to ask if there was an automagical way of deleting the dross (shopping et al). I did try editing the settings although couldn't see any obvious errors so have removed both tunefix...- mumble_myopia

well at least I have eliminated the feed - now very twitchy about turning the one tuner that keeps them BTW this happens before the custom SW is added so at least that isn't to blame- mumble_myopia

Since yesterday (and this is from the Hannington transmitter) I have lost the above from the channel list on reboot or power cycle - on 2 different units. If I do a factory reset and a search for channels they are found fine but immediately I power cycle or power down/up using the remote, they...- mumble_myopia

HDR-fox-T2 poor signal strength
sorry only just seen this - I had very similar behaviour recently and I'm embarressed to say it was down to aged co-ax to the mast. I could and should have spotted the problem and solved it myself but assumed that wasn't the problem :-(- mumble_myopia

... and following that recipe and adding the WebIf resulted in fixdisk being happy as Larry :) Many thanks! It does make me wonder how the on screen menu format made a horlicks of it though- mumble_myopia

Many thanks for all that - nice to know it is not just me ;-) I've stopped the fixdisk and will use your spell - if, as I suspect, these are soft (file system structure errors) rather than hard (media problems), there's not much point in continuing the run. Is this to be expected - it sounds wrong to me but maybe it is ok. Whizzing by too fast ATM to be specific but I can see "Illegal blocks" Can post the log if wanted when done but it is the general Q I am asking ATM Ta in advance- mumble_myopia

where poss, I'd like to make any mods local if poss (for my own benefit) and echo to the RS if reqd. Partly because I haven't yet tasted the RS and partly it is not always available - us wot live in the sticks often lose power and connectivity (power cover is easy; have lots of UPS, connectivity...- mumble_myopia

The merging of these 2 images would almost certainly be done in HW. Now it could be down to the HW if it sent a 'batch' of timed merges and the HW lost (or ignored) its time base; however that raises the Q of why some channels seem reliable and others not- mumble_myopia

I suppose if the one of the things that occured to me was to take a known Humax-unfriedly recording and see if it could be played back satisfactorily on VLC with STs in the right place- mumble_myopia

a bit of research indicates that it is in the data stream (sorry Black Hole!) but it is done as a sort of timed overlay using the old teletext system. There is some sort of time base and the overlays are shown relative to that. So it is the timebase that must be varying - which was my suspicion...- mumble_myopia
