This is what I got when completing the first part 'sudo blkid' with the HDD connected:
mint@mint ~ $ sudo blkid
/dev/loop0: TYPE="squashfs"
/dev/sda1: LABEL="RECOVERY" UUID="06ECC92AECC914B9" TYPE="ntfs"
/dev/sda2: UUID="1EF8CA81F8CA56A5" TYPE="ntfs"
/dev/sda3: LABEL="BACKUP"...
Yes, tried with progressive number 1,2,3 etc as advised previously. Error message reads 'No such file or directory'
Looking at permissions again if relevant - tmp file permissions - owner root and sharing protocol requires administrator to alter. Not sure
if this possible in live USB version...
Can you clarify? Is it possible to delete the file for the Humax to recreate the file? Is your meaning that the Z option deletes the file but that would be not possible using a Linux OS to view and manage the HDD?
(sorry if the quote thingy is wrong above - still getting to grips with the...
Sorry Guys - I just saw you had posted further above. I will try and get the Linux version mentioned and run. If no Z option
which is the file I need to remove? Assuming I can then will The Humax reload the deleted bad file automatically once re- connected?
No go I'm afraid. Permission denied, altered permissions and ran cmd a good few times as
administrator (proper) but continue to get Permission denied. Read around web and appears W7 and XP
cheapo home editions and their permissions and User accounts are a dogs dinner.
So trying a different...
I will double check that Luke and come back . I just noticed that in many of my programs eg cmd, 'privilege level - run as administrator' is greyed out - I am trying to find out why?
So, I obtained administrator privileges (apparently there is a hidden admin built in
on W7 onwards so the User Account is just a ????). I have now activated the administrator account and went through the cmd line to try and get the list of programs on Humax HDD via humaxrw. Looks like...
Thanks Luke. I just tried a few times to run as administrator exactly sa instructed, but no go. That is irritating. Typical Windows. If I cannot get permissions I cannot enter the files to readjust.
Getting Permission denied - tried both xp and W7. Trouble is for invisible drives (as humax is to windows) you need to right click on the drive to change permission. Any ideas? - up to that point very good.
Hi Guys, I have now got the relevant cables etc.
Martin I assume the Z option (to try before offloading films etc) is in humaxrw and not the front end.
I also see that humaxrw is controlled using command line. Can yo give me a run through on what to enter there
to get to the z option and make...
Ok thanks for the offer - that might be a deal. I will give the fix a try and if no go I will give you a shout here?
Should take a week or so while I get the cables etc.
