Does View -> Playlist -> Local Network -> Universal Plug’n'Play still not show the HDR? It does for me! Advantage is you do not need a variable URL as the files are displayed.

In VLC 2.x and up you can access your HDR DLNA server by opening View -> Playlist. This will open up the playlist view. Go to Local Network -> Universal Plug’n'Play.
The playback is better than with the VLC add-in and there is a slider to go forward and back
I am still unable to use network share auto mount for the above reasons. I have tried installing Filezilla but am unable to establish a connection to my HDR as I am not sure what user and password to use. This however would be a work round, not a solution.
