thanks everyone, and MymsMan is correct, I don't need the backup - it was just a question to see if I could recover all the names from the movies that way - but it appears as though it will be more complicated than it's worth - and I'd be better off manually renaming the file.
thank you Blackhole - I therefore take it that if it doesn't have the .hmt file - the rest of the recording is useless? so I may as well delete them from my external HDD?
Or should I try and decrypt them using your methods you mentioned and reinstall them?
I'm a bit confused as to what best to...
thanks for your thoughts on this. I did do a back up of my 1tb drive by taking it out and connecting it to a SATA connector and using linux reader on an external HDD. However, it didn't detect all the files and I think that the 1tb has more recordings on it than my backup. When I look at the...
Yes, I can confirm that all the files in the queue are now decrypted and every recording that I have tried to access has been viewable and every recording on the webif browser has 'DEC' marked against it (including the HD recordings).
So we are making great progress and thanks to all for...
the first bullet is done.
Wasn't sure how to do the second one - I did this by using the opt+ button next to 'my video' folder - the auto-recursive icon has appeared - but there's been no changes in the queue - is that correct?
in order to leave box on overnight - I'm assuming I turn off the...
ok - have recorded 3 small programmes. 2 SD and 1 HD - all recorded and viewed back fine.
have decrypted all 3 and all viewed fine too
in terms of single folder in the next step - would you like me to set up a new folder with new recordings? or use an existing folder where files haven't...
all seemed fine (although as I said - they were working before the decryption too).
for completeness - I did find an HD movie (which also worked) - and am decrypting that to see if that works
Can view DEC flagged recordings on TV
however, just to note - I do seem to be able to view all recordings (not just ones with DEC) - have tested on about 10 without DEC flag and all have worked on the TV
will do a few decryptions of files anyway
thanks everyone - installed packages have now reappeared - I pressed check for updates and then when I clicked again on 'installed' - they reappeared!
Here's what I have (with version number next to it):
anacron 2.3-2
at 3.1.18
auto-unprotect 2.0.2
betaftpd 0.0.8pre17-4
busybox 1.20.2-1...
I can't remember if I installed this - for some reason my webif browser is not showing my packages:
I do have an old 'backup' - but that back up was copied from the 1tb hdd directly via Linux reader - but I don't think it copied across all the files.
so, I'm assuming I must have done...
ok - thanks - is there a guide to doing that? I had a quick search, but couldn't find anything
100% - I'm fumbling around completely in the dark! Even though I've read your great guides several times, I still can't quite get my head around it all and so it's a definite case of trial and...
thank you - now I have put the encryption key in, it seems to be working - have decrypted and played one of the files.
now, however, all of my files are no longer showing the name of the movie/recording -and are instead showing a description - any thoughts on that? is that recoverable?
also...
scrub that - I found where to add 'queue' to the icons - and have looked at the queue. They are saying 'recording did not decrypt properly' - still can't see where to put encryption key though!
