      update: I'm pretty sure that this has frozen and so will turn off, leave overnight and start again tomorrow.

      update to this on part 2e - I think that the fixdisk has stopped - but can't be sure - it seems to be stuck on 13.8% for the last 2 hours. Is it possible that the machine has frozen in the middle of a disk repair? if it's stuck, should I restart everything? here is what it says so far...
