Has anybody got the http server running on an ssl connection yet? The reason I'm thinking of this is as i'm wondering where I should put the new web pages I'm writing for a new portal startup page
Whats interesting here is that the portal seems to take just as long to load up onto my computer than it takes onto the humax box (all other web sites come up instantly - its not my connection!)
It also seems as if every time you press the portal button it loads up the opera browser - why can't...
This is one thing the hummy is not that good at, however , have a play with the V-Format +'- Wide buttons at the bottom of your remote and you should be able to change it to how you want it.
My old Netgear EVA700 media streamer was so much better at this sort of thing, and had a decent...
Thats a very good point - the decryption of SD contect on the HDR happens when you move a file from the internal hard drive to an external one. on the HD box its already on an external hard drive, and you would then copy it to another location. i wonder what would happen if we could somehow...
Are you serious in that the portal is being encrypted/decrypted every time its used! - This may well be a lot of the overhead that the processor is having to do to load up the portal........
Oh and what happens if we point it back at its own IP address/localhost?
The only problem with doing it...
or you could just do that:oops: - The reason this did not work when i tried it was that i did it with the humaxtv program, and the box just rebooted...
You can make changes to the file system - you just have to make a new flash using af123's humidify utility. You could then I guess make the flash file link to a place on your hard drive if you want - for testing / editing and then write them into a flash for final 'release'.
I was thinging...
The file system structure has changed a lot (to bring it in line with the HDR one) and hence the entire file system is now in one block in the flash so it just mounts the entire thing read-only so unless you go around moving stuff over to the HD and linking it back then I can't see how it can be...
Is anybody else finding the menus very very slow (much slower than the HDR - which was not that fast to start with)?
Could not get anything to play on iplayer to start with, - just kept displaying 'can't connect to a required server' error, but this seems to have resolved now
I would not hold your breath - the tv portal is even slower than the HDR one - infact its so slow it loads the screen up in blocks, and can take 10-15 seconds to fully display a page! - And no its not my internet connection!!!
I'm presuming that you have the box connected via a ethernet cable, and not a USB wifi dongle or something else?
Is the box being assigned an IP address? Menu-->System-->Internet Settings-->Configure LAN
If DHCP is selected then if sound have filled in an IP address for you in the bottom box...
As for when a new official update is going to happen Humax report its going to be 'in the next couple of weeks' - however they have been saying that for almost the last year now! - However I do note that Humax are advertising for a new Tech marketing Manager to liase between UK comercial...
:oops: Opps - missed that - It seems to be installed anyway, but ? broken
humax# ldd nano
libncurses.so.5 => not found
libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x2aab3000)
libc.so.0 => /lib/libc.so.0 (0x2aac4000)
ld-uClibc.so.0 => /lib/ld-uClibc.so.0 (0x2aaa8000)
humax#
humax# cd lib
humax# ls...
Seems like thats may well be what happened.
Anyway I now have Nano and Joe's editors compiled. I'll send them over to you later.
I'll try X tomorrow :D

Can confirm that it is now working - I had gawk installed already, and sed. Not quite sure what else I did except reboot the box. - Maybe that was required to get both working inplace of the busybox ones. - Guess the depends for the gcc package need updating???
