What, at 200MB/min? You would be better off copying files rather than cloning file systems.- Black Hole

I was in the process of saying something similar. Changing the drive won't be simple. The mechanics are easily done, but obtaining a suitable drive is less so. You can't rely on a back-street repair shop to do it.- Black Hole

Tyre v. tire Tire is US spelling, but neither seem to me to capture the proper meaning of the word. When wheelwrights started putting an iron band around a wooden wheel, shrunk on with heat, it pulled the wooden sections of the rim and spokes together into a solid structure – it ties them, so...- Black Hole

Media mistakes
They're not measuring anything, the operator has to add or adjust weights to achieve a null. At the null point, the leverages are equivalent – and that is independent of gravity, so the result is mass.- Black Hole

Are you sure that doesn't read "memory allocation failed"? No, that's not because of it being a very large log (although it probably it), it's because fix-disk has run out of memory trying to repair the file system despite having as much swap space as is practicable, and aborted.- Black Hole

Weight is mass under the influence of gravity. It's the figure you would get if you put whatever it is on a weighing machine which works by measuring the downward force, as practically all do (springs, load cells... anything except a comparison mass). That's not rash, that would be the normal course of action. fix-disk does not have a history of trashing anything that wasn't already trashed. What does the end of the fix-disk log say? IIRC errorlevel 0 is normal completion. That is weird. One way around it, if it happened again, could be...- Black Hole

Frequent reboots despite following advice - any suggestions?
You mean your first attempted fix wasn't to go through the crash/reboot checklist? Reverting the firmware never works. Factory reset would have been your sixth fall-back. I doubt that had any effect, but I guess you never know!- Black Hole

Yeah, OK, but you could have guessed the article is about the bunker buster bomb used against Iran. What staggers me is the bomb weighs 12 tons, and the B2 stealth 'plane can carry two of them! And they did it on a round trip from Missouri over 37 hours (with air refuelling), with another...- Black Hole
