I have had alerts re conflicts in the past, this is what Advanced IP Scanner v2 says today, with 2 laptops and the neighbours unconnected, and the Samsung TV not showing up. The Netgem is the Smartbox. I don't know what...
BlackHole, I'll "take in" your post in a minute, first I'll respond to Martin. I don't know if Martin saw our struggles trying to get wifi up 'n running a few days ago, better say now that Hummy would NOT recognise the router and that all settings have been published on this forum and found to...
This is an entirely unknown area to me. Just now I plugged a cable from the router into my laptop, which had been using wifi. I thought that a cable would automatically take preference and take over the internet connection, didn't know that wifi should be switched off, but when I switch off wifi...
I've thought of many retorts to that, all best left unsaid :p
Today I can't load the WebIF, it times out. BBC iPlayer loads OK in Humax portal and programmes play.
EDIT = Cured by rebooting laptop :)
EDIT2 = No it isn't, can't open Package Management, that times out :( Hummy isn't...
Yes thank you, 4291, I don't know why but the first time I tried to load the WebIF I got the download page again. I can't wait to install some packages :hungry: but am tied up with other stuff until later, dang!
How can someone called BlackHole not be in the dark? OK, that's a duff one ;)...
Whatever makes you think I would NOT have restarted the box when the instructions in my screenshot above clearly state to do so?
There's no need to get shirty with me, I warned you I was a bit dozy. I have been very kind to you in ways you will never know, as long as I maintain this amazing...
The reason I've been convinced that my custom firmware installation failed is because I was told that I should see mention of the custom firmware when I reboot after said installation, and I have not.
Nothing daunted, I just ploughed ahead and followed instructions for full web interface and I...
Ezra - Mac address OK allowing for colons interspersed :)
BH!!! Do you mean to say that I should see no sign of custom firmware when the box is rebooted after END?
Cos I thought I should see something different from, or in addition to, a7.31 on reboot after the custom firmware has...
Yes, thanks for the pointer, Brian :)
Thanks for the more labour-intensive method, 4291, I like knowing all the ins and outs - sometimes ;)
BlackHole, I can't find anything in those instructions that is not in the Wiki step-by-step. Tried again in the front USB as before, downloading 100%...
Followed Wiki http://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Install_Modified_Firmware. Same result as last time - no sign of custom firmware having been installed, even though the onscreen info indicated that it had been.
On bootup all it says is Ver a7.31.
Can't see Quote anywhere, Ezra, but I could Like or even Report you  (but I could always do that I think).
Just popped in to say that I'm now cabled up, iPlayer etc are available (I understand that YouTube is down).
However, I can't try to connect up wifi because it's greyed out in...
Should I be able to "quote" in this forum?
Thank you for your thoughts, Martin, I'm going to scroll up and down (am only on 11.6" lappy) and address what I can.
I really don't think my router's range is at fault (and I cannot move it nearer). (1) My neighbours in the next-door flat have no...
Answer to Martin re my sleeping habits, or lack of = a cross I bear which accounts for complete inability to switch on sometimes... often :(
And I forgot to answer a Q in a previous post - yes, I've had at least 2 new routers since that easy-peasy setup, TalkTalk gives them out like sweeties...
