That's interesting, thanks. Some of these versions cropped from to 14:9 aspect ratio are still broadcast in that format, eg series 2,3 and 5 of The Insector Lynley Mysteries when shown, I think, on UK Drama. Programme files have black bars to top and bottom in addition to both sides giving...
I had to try it. You are right, of course - that is exactly what happens.
There is no error message, just a zero-byte 'output' file that has overwritten the input.
Incidentally the offline stripts is proving very handy for output from my HD-Fox, much quicker than copying files to an HDR that...
I use Avidemux for video editing and, with a selfish hat on, I can live with changes of codec either side of breaks for commercials (just edit out the ads).
The big problem has always been when there is a switch from stereo to 5.1 near the start of a programme. Usually this switch comes after...
Just a thought: You might be able to use Tunefix settings to 'force' all the channels you need to keep onto specific numbers e.g. 1-10 or however many you need, and set it to delete all channels with higher numbers, e.g. 11-799?
Not sure if it will work but maybe worth a try - depends which...
I record in HD wherever possible and notice that bitrates vary quite a lot even for programmes on the same channel.
E.g. I've just take a look at two BBC1 HD recordings (neither shrunk)
1. Today's Coronavirus Daily Update: 85 minutes, 2.34 GiB
2. Part of last year's Men's Wimbledon Final: 65...
I daresay you are correct - I wouldn't know. However Panasonic's e-Help manual for plumdim's TX-40GX800B contains several references to HDMI 2.1 settings and no mention of HDMI 2.0 so it isn't surprising if there is confusion.
You can register as "extremely vulnerable" at https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable if you didn't get a letter saying that you are. I think I saw the invitation to do this on Sainsbury's website.
The data used to define vulnerable seems to have been very patchy and missed a lot of...
Glad to its working now.
I'm a little surprised Panasonic's helpline didn't sort it for you - I have quite a good opinion of them. A few months ago and unbeknownst to me my 89yr old very non-techy aunt managed to corrupt some settings on her smart TV; she called them for help and they...
Your Panasonic has HDMI 2.1 and may default to expecting inputs to be using it. The Humax HDR uses an earlier version.
I think the Panasonic has a menu option to change the HDMI setting for each input. No guarantees but it is worth experimenting.
I use a "TP-Link TL-WA860RE N300 Universal Range Extender with Extra Power Outlet" to do the same job. It has an ethernet output socket and 13A passthru so doesn't need a separate mains outlet. I've used one of these for two or three years now with very little hassle.
Perhaps there are some local signal issues for you. I am about 47km from the Rowridge mast and am seeing strength 47 on Ch55 and 45 on Ch56 with both showing quality 100. At the time of writing it seems stable although I have seen some breakup in the past that I linked to weather conditions...
Probably a silly question (in which case apologies) but have you used EXT2FSD to assign a drive letter to the EXT3 drive? Unless this is done I think it will be invisible to Explorer.
AR is my default but I use Multimode to set many 'minor' channels to padding (2min before, 5min after).
I got fed up with credits being truncated when the 'end' signal was sent before the programme finished.
I provide occasional support to chums with original 500GB disks. Neither has ever had a disk-related problem. My two HDRs both came with 1TB disks, replaced with 2TB Pipelines around 25000 power-on hours ago. The 1TB disks didn't fail but, (based on a sample of two), the HDRs fitted with them...
I can't help directly but on the same transmitter the AR recording here (BBC1 HD) started at 18:59:08, nearly a minute early but well within the padding you set.
Agreed - don't retune.
Same problem here on Rowridge. Both HDRs affected identically.
On Saturday the CH4 listing stops at 07:15, CH5 at 06:00. Both resume at 06:00 GMT on Sunday. Easy to miss the F1 Qualifying Highlights (Sat CH4 22:45 - 00:15).
There is usually some kind of hiccup when...
