Well as long as you're happy :-) I've set my fan to "constant on" too and couldn't be happier.
Although personally I'd return a box that froze if it reached 50 degrees - but if it doesn't bother you then it doesn't bother you :-)

Unless they wanted a bigger install base to make things like ITV, 4oD and Netflix worthwhile for new and old products?
Whishfull thinking!!!

The OP says that his carries on drifting forever though - where everyone else says theirs snaps back if it drifts more than 1min?
I don't think I would notice a 1min drift. I dont think any two clocks in my house are within 1min of each other!
I also use AR. I can only assume graham is using...
Had my box for years and never noticed my clock drifting - maybe I am in denial?!?
Oh well - ignorance is bliss I suppose!
@GrahamS - what fw version do your boxes run? I dont think there are enough people running the latest firmware on this forum to completely rule out the possibility that...
This is a known issue.
The work around is to go to the display settings on the humax and select 4:3 ratio. That in itself wont make a difference but now the option below will allow you to set "letterbox" - after that the aspect ratio will be correct.
You will need to turn it back...
I find it strange so many have issues with AR. I can only assume that some channels are much better than others? The majority of my recordings are from the BBC, channel4 and ITV...

Are you sure all the recordings completely failed?
When using AR a recording is flaged as failed even if only a second from the start of the program was missed. The recording would be completely playable but the file would have the broken icon and rs will email you a warning.
Not saying that...
Its hard to say with the limited information available - but if I was you I would...
1) Check for HDD errors using the webif diagnostics tab.
2) Factory reset.
3) Re-install official firmware.
4) Re-install custom firmware.

I'm not concerned about the HDD heating up after its switched off.
Even when the HDD is on with no cooling the temperature only increases 5 degrees in 50mins. Worst case scenario would be if you were running standard fan behaviour (and why would you  ) and you switched off your box...
Although the error message would indicate an issue with the signal I dont think that is the case.
Signal strength usually around 70-80% and quality 100% and if there was an issue with the signal I would not expect a box reset to fix it without fail.
On my box it appears to be a software issue...
I think I mentioned before that I have recently experienced a similar issue. Although I had put it down to my fairly recently installed HDD.
Seems to only happen on mine when I switch to a HD channel - and it hasn't happened at all since I turned TSR off. Its hard to say if turning off TSR has...

And that's just at 32%
I set it to 55% initially but it kept cooling past 40 degrees so turned it down after a few mins. Can't hear the fan.
Love it!

I think the sysmon graph still guesses the fan state based on standard behaviour and only takes into account the temperature of the drive - nothing else.
