Don't know if all the country is affected yet. Winter Hill here.
They moved some of the MUXs round on Wednesday. Again!
Everything was fine beforehand.
Now after the retune I've lost COM6 completely (TalkingPictures, Yesterday, Spike etc)
The Humax won't pick them up at all. Shows zero signal...
Is there any way to disable the recommendation feature? Where you select something to record and then the box (or specifically Channel 4) 'recommends' something completely unsimilar to record also.
Thought there might be a package to do this if it was technically possible.
At the top of the screen on a few of the 'cheaper' channels, I have a black line.. maybe 1 or 2 pixels deep with white bits. Like its supposed to be some sort of data line hidden in the picture, but its being shown.
Channels affected are Talking Pictures TV, Sony Movies, Forces TV..
The line...
Can't remember exactly as the TV has gone back now but 2 of the programmes affected were that BBC docu on great cities of the world and GPs Behind Closed Doors on 5. Audio dropouts were in the middle of the programme. Nothing to do with ad breaks or ratio switching.
Back on my old Toshiba TV...
Bit of googling and I've found the exact problem affecting various other Humax boxes here....

Been going on for years it seems and nobody has figured it out yet. Oh well. :(
I realise that. It doesn't explain the signal going from good to non-existant to good again etc etc
If it was just a weak signal then it would be consistantly weak. Breakups and pixelation etc.
It also wouldn't explain, when I had the new TV, and I was getting no signal on the Hummy yet a...
Sorry I think I'm confusing issues by having 2 TVs involved in this.
My current (OLD) TV is 9 years old and cannot receive FreeviewHD at all through its tuner. So a splitter is of no use. The only way I can view HD channels is from the Hummy.
The only reason I discovered that the Hummy box is...
I'm back on my old TV now which cannot receive COM7 so an aerial bypass won't work.
I can try the analogue connection idea though. Just to confirm its a HDMI thing.
Hmm.. I've tried 3 HDMI cables so far. Latest is supposed to be a well screened decent one. Hasn't made any difference.
And if it was just HDMI interference.. wouldn't I lose signal all the time?
I can get weeks of near perfect signal.. then suddenly.. gone.
Baffling.
Seeing as I've started a right can of worms with LG TV owners :) .. I thought I'd try and solve my other, long running, problem too.
The Hummy keeps losing COM7 channels.
Not breaking up a bit. Losing. Completely.
One day I'll have good signal strength COM7 (75%+) and everything will be fine...
Just to update.
Borrowed a HDMI splitter and it still has the dropouts.
Noticing quite bad backlight banding on the TV now in panning shots (DSE) so its deffo going to be a return. Shame about the issues cos it has a stunning picture.
Thats interesting. I thought about a splitter box a few days ago then thought, like the 2.0 cable, it was a silly idea. Might be worth trying now.
I'm approaching a point where I have to decide whether to return the TV or not.
Don't know what to do really.
It is pretty annoying. If there is no...
It is set to Stereo
Soundbar is plugged directly into Humax via Toslink. Not through TV.
Tried again from scratch tonight. Recorded programme this time (this morning was LiveTV).
Same again. After about 20min... the time when via HDMI I'd get a 1 sec dropout... the Soundbar lost audio for...
Well I borrowed my brothers Samsung soundbar today and connected it directly to the Humax.. muting the TV.
HD channel. Everything fine for 20 mins.. then sound cut out on the soundbar. But instead of the 1 sec drop on the TV sound, the cutout was for 10 secs.. then when it came back it was...
