Thanks for your input. I am afraid the link you posted is way above my pay grade, being a mere long retired hardware engineer. Over the years I have decrypted well over 2500 files successfully and not noticed this problem before, but the vast majority have been using the recursive decrypt...
I recently recorded "Mamma Mia-Here We Go Again" (OK, I know! but I love ABBA) and hit a small problem with decryption.
Pressing OPT/decrypt, I got the decryption pop up and the progress bar as normal, but at 100% complete nothing further happened. Going back to "Browse" the recording was...
Neither of the above work, but I'm not bothered because the solution from xyz321 explains things.
We seem to have got ourselves into a wild goose chase concerning administration rights. As I stated in post 26 the programme seemed to run, but could not see the disk. This is because, never having...
Again no Command Prompt (Admin), Presumably because i am already in an admin account?
However, I am beginning to get somewhere with HumaxRW. I have discovered the drop down menu with the front end programme that selects the drive required ( even though it is not seen). Due to other...
More Info.
1. Switch mains on from cold.
Unit runs through start up procedure(disk active), then goes to standby. Disk stops, but 12v and 5v still present.
2. Press remote power on
Unit powers up, disc active normal operation.
3. Press remote power off.
Unit goes into standby, disk stops, but...
I have just opened up my old 9200 and both 12v and 5v are present on the HDD when in standby! My brain hurts! I will continue the investigation when I have a little more time in the next day or two
Thinking about it. you must be right (comment deleted!!) the HDD is obviously not powered in standby.
I will put together the various bits of gear when I get a bit of time and try to refresh my memory of how it works.
Edit: Not true: See later post 23 for measured voltages in standby
I used to understand what was happening at the time, but it's long ago (12 years) and nowadays I have trouble remembering if I have taken this morning's tablets
Just postage. In view of my comments above about compatibility, you might as well have the IDE-USB adaptor as well.. Please send me a Private Message (I think this forum calls them conversations) with your address etc
The cable simply taps into the existing cable. I think the 9200 needed to be in standby to avoid the clashes that you mention. I assume that the supply to the HDD is sill present in standby.
I seem to remember that occasionally some makes of IDE-USB adaptor did not function properly, due I...
If you're stuck, I have a suitable cable you can have if you want it. You will also need a IDE to USB adaptor, readily available on e-bay etc. A separate power supply will not be required.
