Indeed de gustibus and all that. But to your point, I am pretty sure when I got my TV I played a DVD for calibration and did "things". Of course I cannot remember a thing, but I think it is possible to mess with these things to one's heart's content.
I moved to hummy from toppy 100% because of HD. We watch with subtitles and even they are sharper.
I have a reminder for BBC then 30 mins later BBC HD at 4am or something for the EPG.
May I explain the case: prpr has (helpfully, in my view) linked the Wiki, which google readily returns. Linking the (more elusive in my experience as presented earlier) advanced packages is at least symmetrical.
Thanks for the update. I would like to learn how to do that, rather than using the stick. I had a look on the web interface and couldn’t find this package neither under installed, nor under available. I run auto-update and indeed on accessing the web interface I had loads of notifications, but...
Thank you both very much. I should be quite happy that this was the first time in the many years I have been running Hummies that this happened, then. I will take a look at Black Hole’s list at some point.
A couple of days ago, starting my Hummy led it to "reinstall itself": it started with the "WIZARD" on the front display, and it scanned for channels etc. When restarted, it had lost its schedule. I read the firmware version wrong and thought it had lost the custom firmware, so I reinstalled it...
Many thanks for doing that. Would you be willing to pass on to me the 2TB one with a fully working remote (mine is broken)? I am south of Edinburgh, so I would need postage, unfortunately.
Is this a forum rule, or a helpful suggestion?
It says the following:

I am wondering if the error was before fix-flash-packages did its magic.
I connected with telnet, put it in maint mode, ran fix-flash-packages; does the following cause concern:
Configuring newk.
Collected errors:
* file_md5sum_alloc: Failed to open file /mod/boot/newk.conf: No such file or directory.
Full report below.

Thanks bottletop. I doubt I have recordings on B since May; not a big issue if I do. I will do the check you are suggesting.
Re network shares automount, doubtful I had taken initiative; only if it's an option that is recommended on the doc.
I will see what [Mod Settings] are and where to...
Doesn’t the fact that box A plays the box B recordings tell us that these used to have the same key?
Thank you prpr. I will do a search, see how I can run the diagnostic. Re USB, the two devices are connected to the same network switch (which connects to my router). I cannot remember what else...
For the umpteenth time in so many years, thanks for making time for my queries. Indeed B had its default key. On box B, I pasted in Settings->Advanced Settings->Encryption Key->Custom encryption key the box A key and rebooted box B using the WebIF; it still will not play my test files. Is this...
I have two HDR-Fox T2, connected through a network switch; let's call them A and B. In May B suffered and recovered from a crash. Since that happened, B has the following issues:
Recordings on B do not play (though they seem to start, nothing show); the error message is "The channel is...
