The problem
I ran fixdisk, which made a large number of repairs. I think it finished with out of memory error, and I do not know...
Thanks for the interest, everyone. Are we contaminating the thread, is there a better one?
SMART stats (fixdisk still running, if it makes a difference):
Humax HDR-Fox T2 (HumaxOld) 1.03.12/3.13
To return to the menu, type: exit
HumaxOld# smartctl -a /dev/sda
smartctl 6.4 2015-06-04 r4109...
It has been running for 75 minutes or so now. That does not bother me; it's just the observation that the messages are exactly the same that I found alarming:
Running select disk self test
Error at LBA 251006816
/dev/sda:
re-writing sector 251006816: succeeded
This is an advanced-format disk...
I kicked it off; I think it's stuck in a loop thus:
Running select disk self test
Error at LBA 251006816
/dev/sda:
re-writing sector 251006816: succeeded
This is an advanced-format disk.
Also checking blocks 251006816 - 251006823 (8 blocks)
Block 251006816 - OK
Block 251006817 - OK...
Sorry, I was not clear: I followed your clear instructions and after a shedload of repairs, fixdisk finished. The system rebooted and the Hummy is asking to reformat the disk; I did not do that. I cannot access the WebIF (in a loop of "The system is initialising.").
I note @prpr's pointer and...
Ok, I will look into system flush next.
But after I do some research on whether/how I can recover from fixdisk trashing the remote Humax (it asks to reformat its HDD). Different thread, I am sure.
Just to update: I ran fixdisk on the local Hummy and I think there wasn't very many things wrong with it (happy to share file/info as needed). The other one is fixing problems like there's no tomorrow, we will see what happens.
FWIW, both had shut down properly yesterday.
Not sure if any of...
So how does one detect this state on shutdown (as opposed to on startup)?
As an update, the schedule of the local hummy lost all but one programmes. I loaded more series and left the one in; I deleted all records in the schedule with no planned time. The media went to the top; I will keep...
Thanks for all the answers.
No, I meant in this thread.
Re DELINQUENT HALF-AWAKE, would a USB stick plugged to the front and keeping its light on tell me, or do I need to do something every day?
(I presume any USB stick does it, I don't need special like I need HDD?)
I have the same problem on my HDR Fox T2 and I believe I am the first to report a recording missed.
Part 1
I have an HDR Fox T2 which I use every day. At this moment I see that:
the EPG shows that it should be recording "The Repair Shop";
the schedule includes past (11 Jan) and future (till 23...
Thanks for the very prompt response. I am on the wrong thread. :-( Is there a way to move my q etc to the correct thread?
It is an HDR-Fox T2 that I have.
I clicked on the option and it set it; on the second click it then un-set it (the latest message is "Unflagged directory as...
Hello,
I had set my Hummy to decrypt recursively at the top, then changed my mind and cancelled it. It now creates two files: the intended recording and one called -dec (e.g. Mission_ Impossible - Fallout_20210220_2100.ts and Mission_ Impossible - Fallout_20210220_2100-dec.ts respectively)...
That's what I was trying to isolate.
At the times of test, the WiFi.
I use three plug-in timers: for the subwoofer, an evening light and some active speakers.
It looked like it. And it looked like it could cope with the boiler on too.
Yes.
Occasionally, yes.
So it should be doing better...
We were able to watch it with no problems at all, not a single glitch.
I have now deleted this recording.
But last night I tried again one of the recordings that I had copied across in my benchmarks and it was not watchable when streaming: instant, unacceptable glitching.
So I tried again...
Yes, let’s agree to ignore the Comtrend dashboard.
I will keep looking into it, as per my previous list, including the Xbox; I just need my co-worker to start his evening shift as I stream something HD.
