Yes, it started like this, then got worse and worse and worse. The kids only report back these things when they are in the extreme, so they can rage about it. I rarely watch TV these days, and what I do watch is mostly on-demand so I don't see the errors.
It all came to a head a few nights ago...
Will do. I'm just starting to wonder if replacing the disk should be done anyway, regardless of the current drive status. 10+ years seems like a pretty good service. I don't think I've ever had a drive in a PC last that long.
Sadly No.
At home the box is no longer connected to the network. Due to massive messing about with the home network a couple years ago, there was no longer a cable connection available. Since the box has been bullet proof for a number of years, I didn't see the need to reconnect it.
I forgot...
I think my HDD is about to give up.
Our main HDR-FOX T2 has started popping up this message at random times during playback of recordings, along with random breakup/pixilation and time skips, and an excruciatingly sluggish UI navigation when trying to access recordings.
I have disconnected it...
Yay!
So I tried the above and its completely repeatable.
I booted the box (no network cable) and made a short 5min recording. I then rebooted and brought the box out of standby and no crash. I inserted the cable and a few seconds later the box crashed and rebooted itself. I repeated this 3...
I'll do this for a few days. I'm only using the network for the WebIF anyway.
Just as a test, if I boot the box without the cable in, then see if its stable for a few minutes, then push the cable in, is it likely to crash?
Exactly that.
Yeah, I read about this DLNA issue elsewhere, and I think that could be it. I have installed the package, so I'll see how that helps.
Certainly, recordings done in the background are fine. No issues there at all.
Yes, all up to date.
Yes.
No, I don't. I will get this installed. Thanks.
I do as of a few minutes ago. It's set at 50% and the CPU is at 69.8c playing an HD file. This is measured with a FLUKE temp monitor and probe with the case on.
Can the CF give any information on what caused a crash/reboot?
I have a box which crashes/reboots maybe 30secs to a minute after being brought out of standby.
This is a bedroom box and is usually only woken up when we go to bed at about 10pm.
This hadn't bothered me much until a scheduled...
OK thanks everyone. I put in what I thought the encryption key should be and the external recordings played fine.
Now I have the long task of copying them all across!
Wrong order?
I'm doing exactly as I was told above. Hardly my fault the box never had WebIf installed.
OK, so 3.13 is installed now and WebIf is being downloaded.
I have the MAC address of the HD T2, but I'm not sure where to find the serial number so i can figure out the encryption key.
