The first HDR I got had some kind of fault, I contacted Humax support and they seemed very helpful. This is my one and only experience of them so I can only go by that. They were good to me.
Do you have an energy saving light bulb in the room, or a room close by?
I had a few that gave off stray IR when they were struggling for power. This used to send a few boxes I had into standby, and change channels randomly.
Since your new box is doing the same, I would look for stray IR...
Is there a part number on the tuner unit?
Maybe you could get one from another supplier, unless Humax make the part in-house. You would need to be sure that only that part had failed though.
Is bullet one suggesting that unencrypt is no longer being developed/maintained by the author?
I have been eating through the unencrypt thread when I have spare minutes, but I have only got to page 14. If unencrypt is no longer being maintained, then I'll stop reading now and just use the webif.
That sounds like a really useful package. I'm quite looking forward to the tinkering stage, but I know a lot of people will benefit from a simple setup like that.
Thanks BO, I'll have a good read.
I take it hardware wise, that I nothing more than the items I have already?
HDR Fox-T2 (Custom Firmware (latest version))
HD Fox-T2 (Custom Firmware (latest version))
Router
USB HDD for HD Fox-T2
Network Cables / Home Plugs
Please let me know if there is...
Wow, that sounds perfect! (and thanks again af123 for your invaluable advice)
Now I just need to find somebody who is using this setup so I can pick their brains!
If anybody here would like to explain how to set it up or point me to the relevant threads, it would be much appreciated.
Is there a list on this site, of things you can and cannot do via content sharing?
I recently purchased a HD Fox-T2 to use in the bedroom and share content with my HDR Fox-T2 in the front room, but I am a little disappointed in the functionality. I guess I should have looked this all up before...
You would be better off with a dedicated media player.
I use a WDTV Live. You can get them for about £89.99, and mine has taken every file I have thrown at it so far!
Thanks BO, but that hasn't brought it back. Still just got a white page with 'Index of' written above a directory structure.
Interestingly, a new drive I have formatted and put in as part of an upgrade allows me to use the Web If perfectly, but putting in the old drive makes it stop again.
So my Web If was acting strange, it would not remove any packages, or add any packages.
So I was trying to get it working, but now the whole thing seems to have gone.
Now when I navigate to the ip address I juat get a white page with a directory structure on it.
I tried restoring the...
It's an option, but I would prefer to get one from a company where I can expect support if the box is faulty in some way.
Ebay is often used by individuals to offload unreliable goods.
I'm guessing that Humax have dropped all enthusiasm for this feature in favour of being Youview's lap dog...
I just want it out-of-the-box simple so the OH can use it too. I was looking at the Fox T2 because I remember reading that anything other than that was hassle, especially because most (if not all) of the recordings will be HD.
I'm having a real hard time finding one of these at a sensible price at the moment.
All I want to use it for is streaming from my HDR in the lounge to this in the bedroom.
So far I am finding most stores only have the HDR, and the few that have the HD, are charging so much it would be crazy...
