Hello.
I had a couple of "Failed recordings: Unable to track" a couple of days ago.
I powered down, waited for the click and then turned off at the back.
I waited 5 minutes and then powered up again.
Last night, another batch of "Failed recordings: Unable to track".
I set a new recording...
Came here to say the same.
I wonder if Channel 4 uses the same technique as Donald Trump does when he's tweeting:
just shouting out words that someone else types in?
Just had another runaway recording.
Richard Osman's House of Games on BBCTWO HD.
Thanks to BH's kind advice, I cancelled it by switching to the channel and hitting the Stop button.
Is it significant that I have had two such events in two weeks?
It is a series link recording, set via Web-IF.
RTS is enabled.
Ah, so those numbers in the schedule DO have a use!
The stop button! Of course! I really am the last to know...
Well, the box crashed, thus ending the recording before I could follow your advice.
Here is some of the media...
My HDR T2 is still recording last night's MOTD2.
There appear to be no options to cancel the recording available via the standard UI.
Is there an alternative to a harsh power down using the rear switch?
Any help gratefully received.
Thank you, BH.
That has done the trick.
And thank you, prpr, for this presumably preventative measure.
For future readers, here is a more verbose version of the fix.
Go to the Diagnostics page in Web-IF.
Choose fix-flash-packages from the dropdown in the Diagnostics fieldset at the top of...
My HDR-Fox T2 froze so I powered it down.
As I powered it up, it crashed.
The dot matrix screen said "Crash" followed by a countdown to reboot.
It was so bad a crash it went back in time...
51 Your Humax crashed and some packages have been disabled as a precaution.
50 ... disabled...
I suspect I may be alone in setting two series links for
Starstruck, the funny and moving comedy by the gorgeous Rose Matafeo on BBCThree and
Starstruck, the singing talent show on ITV
Being the Last.To.Know I, of course, was surprised when, obviously, both recordings ended up in a single...
Channel 4 HD (and presumably Channel 4) have cancelled:-
"Bettany Hughes' Treasures of the World" and
"Deadpool"
in favour of
"Live US Open Tennis Final Raducanu"

It will come as no surprise to anyone, least of all BH, that my soldering skills are non-existent.
Nonetheless, I thank you all for your helpful replies.
This worked!
Some of the time.
I get tones back immediately after sustained switch shifting.
Then it goes back to pulse after a while.
I'm tempted to dismantle the phone...
Any advice?
Yes, I believe OpenReach are no longer issuing PSTN lines, or at least are planning to stop doing so soon.
[Edited to add] Where are my manners?!
Thank you BH.
That's the same switch configuration.
A quick search on "open circuit phone" seems to only relate to the line.
I tried a different...
I have a BT Relate 1000 corded landline phone.
It looks like this:
Although mine is a little grubbier.
For some reason, it has switched from tones to pulse.
There is a switch under where it is set to
T-TB
The other options are
T-E
P-E
No selection changes it back to tones.
