iTunes plays them fine, but they won't transfer onto an iPod. I know you could use ffmpeg, but this seems like an Apple-only problem and I think that it's better to use iTunes for the conversion as iPod owners will already have that installed.
All MP3 players should play MPEG1 layer 2 (MP2) files but sometimes you need to 'fool' them by calling the files .mp3 instead. The iPod doesn't - a typical case of Apple's shoddy "Not Invented Here" attitude.
At the moment it looks like I need to import the files to iTunes, select them, convert...
Well, that was a bit disappointing - iTunes is happy importing files created this way, but it refuses to upload them to an iPod because they're not compatible. It looks like they will need to be transcoded after all and that's going to take a lot more processing.
Sorry for the confusion - several sites refer to clients and servers, but you are right DLNA itself doesn't refer to clients, but renderers, players, controllers etc. I suspect that the HDR-T2 is a player, but it would be interesting if you could stream to other devices as directed by a controller.
By the way, I set it loose on my full Radio directory this morning and it is processing about 100 files/hour - only another 5 hours to go!
I think I may next be writing a routine that will find all the mp3's under a directory and link them to a single directory - a sort of poor-man's flatten...
The possibility of a second running instance should have gone away since I changed the process-tracking logic to using lock files and not grepping the output of ps, so that shouldn't be a problem (crosses fingers).
The HDR-T2 can act as a DLNA client or server, but I would class the client as a DLNA player, not a renderer.
If you install the customised firmware, there is a web interface that allows program scheduling and EPG browsing, but not full remote control (as BH says). There is an iPhone app for...
It looks like there is something about the copy of wget in /bin that was the problem, then. Are you using firmware 1.02.20?
The debug worked, it just prints some extra lines, so it's easier to tell which stage the program has reached and what certain values are
My...
Version 0.1.3 is on its way into the repository.
A couple of changes
1) Process tracking now uses /tmp, not ps and should be a lot cleaner
2) I've reverted to the busybox version of wget
3) More debug statements
4) Cleaner handling of when seriesfiler has moved something
5) Now only runs at 1...
I have spent a fair amount of time trying to work out how to get processes to play fair, to avoid race conditions and to prevent processes from getting in each other's way, and leveraging auto-unprotect sounds a great way to do it.
Right! - back on topic...
I've just submitted a program to the repository called soundout (sorry it's a crap name, but you should have heard the alternatives). Once af123 has approved it, it will be available for download.
It's very simple to use:
soundout "/mnt/hd2/My Video/Radio"
will...
In another thread, Black Hole asked if unencrypt could do without auto-unprotect by doing what it does. I agree that it would be a good thing to do but the daemon is a binary so I can't see what it is actually doing.
At some point, I will do some digging, but it's fine for the moment and I like...
Ezra - did the download halt at 100% and then not get any further, or was there any more text in the log? (best viewed using the diagnostics page in webif as it's then easy to cut and paste)
It's fascinating that the problem only occurs when run from cron - that's usually a path problem, but...
If they someone sold a twin PCI express tuner, I would be interested, but the only well supported one on the market is USB. I really am surprised at how little support there has been from tuner manufacturers (and PVR manufacturers - Topfield in particular) about supporting DVB-T2. Hopefully some...
Programatically, the two fit together well together. Unfortunately, some people will want one, some will want the other, and a few will want both. TBH, the way things are going, we probably need some sort of job scheduling service to replace the existing cron scheme. I'll have a think...
I'm doing a database dump from webif and the rows for those values just aren't there.
My edit and your message crossed in flight, but I did indeed hardcode entries into wifi-up and that seems to be working fine now.
