Sweet - ffmpeg now seems to be working on my box as well (it was broken before)
I might have a go at writing a radio demuxer but I need to work out a sensible rationale that's going to stop it clashing with other crontab stuff, particularly unencrypt. Maybe it's time for a housekeeper programme...
My apologies - you have done so much good debugging and it wasn't your fault
I transferred some code from my backup script into unencrypt and skimped on the testing. Unfortunately, because unencrypt is run from cron, you need to specify the full path for most commands and I failed to...
I tried formatting a 1.5TB Samsung Story drive over the weekend and it sat on the "Processing" stage for 4 hours and achieved nothing apart from trashing the partition table. The drive didn't even sound like it was being accessed.
I formatted the drive using ext3 on another Linux box, formatted...
That disk isn't well, or the power supply is failing. In fact, the 'freezing' symptoms sound very like what I had with my old Topfield where the capacitors degraded and the power supply would go out of spec: the remote control would stop working, recording and playback then became unreliable...
Unfortunately, I can't get 4 Homeplugs working together in this house so most of that box's connectivity will be via wireless (already waiting for a suitable dongle from eBlag) but it has already been hacked and there is fun to be had :D
Replacement isn't necessarily a problem: If you install the custom firmware, you can copy off the good TV using my backup utility (http://hummy.tv/forum/threads/backing-everything-up.697/) - I've just had mine replaced and I'm now in the middle of restoring 700+G of files that would otherwise...
A quick update...
I didn't return the paperwork until last Friday (2nd December) for a variety of reasons. When I did, Humax Customer Support said that there were replacement units but I think that was based on the name of the form that I was sent, not a view of stock - they asked me the name...
You can't assume that the disc has been replaced, they could just have done a factory reset before sending it to you, but the important thing is that you still have the rest of your 2 year warranty left.
HDR-Fox T2 1TB - Serial number 63710 4582 00088
Firmware version - 1.02.20
Bought from Humax Direct in Feb 2011
Suffered from unresponsive remote control and intermittent playback failure (halting for 1-2 minutes then carrying on from the same point).
Resetting to factory defaults did not...
Just a thought - are you using Accurate Recording (http://hummy.tv/forum/threads/accurate-recording-ar-padding-and-lost-series-links.858/) ? I had to disable it because I kept losing BBC programmes in the evenings (http://hummy.tv/forum/posts/3291/).
There's no obvious reason that anything should fail, all it's doing is streaming a file which it should be able to do while recording anyway.
However, in the interests of preserving your anatomy, and if you're happy editing crontab, it would be possible to set to only run at less vital times...
In case anyone is interested, progbackup 0.2 is on its way to the repository.
Changes since the last version:
If you run it twice and delete some programmes in the meantime, those will now be deleted from the backup drive
If you are running unencrypt (decrypt-in-place) it will simply copy...
Check the gateway setting in the master settings, what you are seeing is consistent with a gateway problem and your DNS server being outside the network (or the same as a now unreachable gateway).
The only way that I can duplicate that behaviour is if I hit return before 'y'. I suspect it's a terminal emulator problem.
Try the following command
unencryptsetup "/mnt/hd2/My Video"
It has the same effect, but you don't need to answer 'y'.
When you send a wireless packet then no other devices can communicate until that packet has been sent - only one device on a wireless network can send at a time. If your network can support, say, 50 packets per second and the Humax uses 45 of those packets, then the other devices (phone, laptops...
As Black Hole said, you had confirmed correctly, I'll add some better text to save confusion in the next version.
If you run the command "crontab -l" you should see a line that contains a reference to unencrypt and it should be pointing to the '/mnt/hd2/My Video' directory - that will confirm...
