Yeah, like I say it depends on the router software, I have 5 routers and every one of them does this differently so I don't like to make generalisations. The important thing is to make sure you understand what it is doing and set the configuration so that fixed and dynamic addresses can't clash...
That rather depends on the router and configuration. I have some devices in my network configured locally with fixed IPs since my old router would not allow me to configure the DHCP to assign a fixed IP (I configured a clear block for them which the DHCP would not use). My new router does allow...
Are you sure your broadband connection has fast enough upload bandwith for this? If it is ADSL based it is unlikely to be more that 1mbps, ours is about 3-600k despite about 4mbps download (that's what the 'A' in 'ADSL' means). I guess it might work if you have cable but probably not for HD even...
Hmm, I took my box to Cornwall last week so I had to retune (and again when I got back) I never once accepted the nag screen but the messages have gone away.
I noticed this is also the case with the 'book now' messages you get on trailers. I used it for the first time last week and noticed that it did not give the option to record the series. I then tried to go and change the booking to a series and found that you can't. I had to delete it and then...
Looks like I have found the problem, my HDR thinks it is not connected to the router any more. Very odd as the router is saying it is connected. Seems like something may have happened to the WAN port :(
EDIT: Bizarre, just power cycled the Hummy and the router and it is working again.
Curiously my HDR is doing the same this morning. I can't access the webIF or the DNLA streams. The software version is 1.02.28 which it has been since the upgrade and the webIF is on that version too.
Looks like I will have to re-install the custom FW which seems odd. It was working fine 2...
I've just tried setting mine to off and gone back to the laptop. I can see the webIF now but not the uPnP entry and I can't play files via the Samba mount (but I can browse them).
This is all very confusing. Maybe I'll just give it a power down reboot.
From your last comment it sounds like...
Even in non-power saving mode?
I find the hummy seems to just go to sleep by itself after a while too which means I can rarely see it on the network when I want to.
I'm sure this is a silly rookie question but I seem to be having trouble connecting to my HDR when the box has gone into standby. I've searched these forums but not come up with anything.
I only got the HRD a couple of weeks ago and installed the custom firmware after a couple of days. I love...
