Oh dear. I wonder whether this disease will spread to That's TV 3 – I'm currently enjoying their re-run of Upstairs Downstairs. Not something I would normally get interested in (I have never bothered with Downton), but from childhood nostalgia.
The general internet knows nothing about the CF, I have never known there to be issues with permissions. This is the only place to ask and any fiddling in the dark is likely to make matters worse.

Series/season and episode numbers are written to the synopsis, are they not? Nowhere else to put them. Some broadcasts/broadcasters include them (instance: most programmes on Sky Mix), so yes they are.
What are you talking about? This thread is about the HMT file, but so far as I know there is nothing specific in the HMT file about episode number (see post 2).
When you sometimes see "S3E4" (or whatever), that is part of the broadcast synopsis text (which is stored in the HMT).

If your rule is for events and not series, I don't think there is a reset (the point of the reset is to clear the memory that a series has already been notified, but event searches should trigger a new notification for every event...
