  The WD I mentioned is a BLACK and it does say recommended for PVR, I have been reading through past posts and it seems there was was a reason not to have the model with 'auto head parking' but that seems to not be on the models for some years. Maybe I'll just get what is best offer.

  Just a simple (novice Q) I understood you can put a new HDD into PVR (running CF) and it takes care of all formatting & setup. Why the need to change partition .... keen to know

  Is that procedure documented somewhere ? ..... done plenty of HDD swap out & re-partitioning on PC's but do not have an understanding of HDD on the Humax boxes..
