I'll install the fix-disk package. Can you explain more on capacitor fix ? (or share a link) Separately I am also getting break up of channels occasionally .. yet this is OK on TV and if I swap TV port & leads over on Distribution amp .. fault does not move, so had assumed tuner is just...- Sargan

Enter the fixdisk keyword, then it prompts you for the options (and you can review the help, if required). But if you install the updated fix-disk package from the repository first (just published, version 0.6), before you go into maintenance mode, then this will give you a newer version...- prpr

First get into maintenance mode. Then from the maintenance mode menu select fixdisk, and you will be prompted to enter options.- Black Hole

Quick Q ... I will Telnet in and select fixdisk at what point (or where can I enter the -d -y switches ? or do I instead run CLI and enter fixdisk -d -y can't remember the steps I followed- Sargan

replacing hard disk
Any idea what caused the jump from 0 to 112, then 112 to several thousands of bad sectors? Eg was the drive moved while spinning? Did you try running fixdisk to correct it?- bottletop

The messages from fixdisk are mostly e2fsck messages about ext3 filesystem accounting, Like double-entry book-keeping in actual accountancy (so I hear) the ext3fs filesystem keeps duplicate information about the filesystem which can be cross-checked in an audit (but may be inefficient to check...- /df

...like Humax and HDR-Fox T2. Many posts and reports associated with similar symptoms seemed to recommend actions around the disk. I’ve applied fixdisk including the long test and usually got a clean bill of health. I’m not sure if there might be some relevant fixdisk -options I might try...- newmikeman

Yes, to ensure it checks the whole drive without restriction. Not necessary. It's a good idea to run fixdisk again to confirm there are no more errors after previous run has updated drive (to perform fixes). After the last run (when the log is clear of errors) check SMART attributes again to...- bottletop

Do you always have to enter maintenace mode to run fixdisk to sort problems out? For the time being I've turned off timeslip / tsr thing as wanted to ensure that area was fully checked too.- rodp

/mnt/hd3/fix-disk.0.log viewable in the log file list on the webif diagnostics page Humax can get very slow if one of the bad sectors is in a file that is frequently accesed or seem unaffected if in a recording not being played, Fixdisk is best run overnight because of the time it can take.- MymsMan

After selecting fixdisk in maintenance mode, you can supply the flags -d -y so that it'll assume yes for all sector repairs. https://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Maintenance_Mode_Disk_Check Run time will still be long but no need to watch over it.- bottletop

...trying to decrypt a recently recorded program (crystal maze). I saw the alert on webif (200 odd unallocated or pending sectors) and so ran fixdisk in maintenace mode (no options). However, I've struggled with this as each time it would pause when it found a bad sector and ask me to type 'y'...- rodp

Spurious disk full message
...processing was not active at the time and Detectads wasn't running (BBC recording) and it was 36minutes into the recording so not something caused by recording start/end. The most obvious cause would be some sort of write error being misinterpreted as disk full but fixdisk didn't detect problems- MymsMan

Maybe you've hit a preset or hard coded limit of some sort? Were there file deletions since the recording? If so, was the drive nearly full during the recording? Is it a 500GB drive? I've not seen the message myself. I'll include the results of my last fixdisk runs for comparison.- bottletop
