Thanks all for your explanations and advice.
The HDD has thrown a couple of recoverable errors recently. I'm thinking that, although the checks indicate that it's OK, it might be worth at least having a replacement on standby just in case. My understanding is that it's advisable to use an HDD...
Yup, just finished running fixdisk, output below. It seems to think there is a problem with the redring.log file but I've no idea how to address that. Otherwise I think it looks as if it's fixed the problem.
Please select option: fixdisk
Any additional options (-h for list or press return for...
First noticed this misbehaviour this evening; when playing recordings the box hangs for ~15s before responding to play, pause, stop, FFWS and RWD commands (oddly, skip forward and skip back work fine). The box does not respond to any other remote key presses - e.g. the Mute button - while it is...
Thanks, I'll give sweeper a go.
I thought it would be a long shot. The Simpsons on C4 is broadcast at 16:9 whether the actual programme content is widescreen or not. If it's not it just has black bands added each side to fill up the empty space either side of the actual image.
I was wondering whether it would be possible for the "Mark new" function to be performed on more than one file at a time, e.g. by ticking the check box against each recording required to be marked as new, and thern having a 'batch action' button at the bottom of the window as there is for...
Ah, OK, thanks for the tip.
I hate those split schedules. I've heard that they're used to get round the rules about the number and lengths of ad breaks in long programmes by inserting a short "film news" programme part way through. If I were OFCOM I'd be telling the TV companies to stop taking...
I've just tried to schedule a recording of Thunderball at 19:20 this evening (Saturday) on ITV4, from the EPG. I was puzzled when the box prompted me to sort out a clash with two other programmes scheduled to be recorded, but on Thursday night. I went in to the recording schedule and cancelled...
Can confirm that deleting a recording from the USB drive via the TV screen UI does not cause a copy to be made in the dustbin on the internal HDD. Neither does it move the recording to a dustbin on the USB drive. The same goes for deleting recordings on the USB drive (including all sidecar...
Nope.
As I say, the reported behaviour is as observed when using the WebIF. I've yet to test it using the user interface on the TV screen. But as it happens I have an opportunity to do so just now, having transferred some recordings off from the USB drive earlier today. Watch this space...
Having just recently enabled undelete, I'm now noticing that deleting files from my USB drive takes a lot longer than before (via the WebIF at least, I've not yet tried it via the user interface on the TV). It seems that this is because the delete operation is moving the file to the dustbin on...
The tweak is still available in Firefox - at least, the preference is still there and can be changed. Upping the value to from the default 90 to 1200 (seconds, I assume, so 20 minutes) doesn't make any difference, though: decrypts fail after 6 minutes either way. That suggests to me that it's...
Thanks for this explanation. I can't see myself going down that path if queueing decrypts proves to be a satisfactory workaround for my purposes in the long term. The protected session approach looks a bit complicated - although I could probably skip the re-integration in to the media library...
That log is empty.
I have now updated the auto processing settings and successfully decrypted the test recording I was using above by submitting it to the queue (FWIW the successful decryption took 10 minutes 26 seconds). So it does look like the problem is caused by a timeout in the web page...
Just checked: a 1 hour 5 minute/3.93GiB recording failed 55% of the way through after 6 minutes pretty much on the nail.
The xxx.ts.decrypting file continued to grow after the manual decryption had jumped to 100%. After a few more minutes it was the same size as the original xxx.ts file, and...
OK, thanks both for your clarification of queue processing. I'll have to take a look and see why my box seemed not to start processing a recording as soon as it was added to the queue.
An hour or so ago it did manage to manually decrypt one of the recordings which had been failing to decrypt...
Am I right in thinking that queued decrypts only run overnight? Certainly in the past when I've tried this the recording(s) has just sat in the queue with nothing obviously happening.
I don't use auto-decrypt because I don't often want to take recorded content off the box - plus I don't want a...
Checked, and confirmed enabled.
Doesn't seem to be anything relevant showing:

My HDR-FOX T2 is not decrypting HD recordings using the WebIF OPT+ menu function. The recordings are unprotected (auto-unprotect is enabled and the recordings do not have the ENC flag showing) and have the DLNA indexed flag showing. When I select the decrypt function the decrpyption gets going...
I believe you're thinking of the response that Born Cynic quoted. Mine had the subject line "BBC Reception Advice - Case number XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXX" and stated: "This is an automated email confirming we have received your submission via the Radio and Television Investigation Service diagnostic...
