No, you don't. You could simply "massage" the new unit's decryption key using CF.
Swapping a HDD between HDR-FOXes
Rescuing Recordings from a Dead HDR-FOX
Your first port of call should be to look at the HDD diagnostics. If the HDD or the file system is in trouble, the OS has to retry accesses and this adds a lot of processing load with the possibility of interrupting high-priority tasks.
See whether WebIF >> Diagnostics >> Disk Diagnostics...
How does the fan working or not working implicate the remote control system, in as much as you made an electrical bodge to the fan and not any alteration to the firmware? This seems extraordinary, and extraordinary claims require some kind of rational explanation or evidence.
If a firmware...
Woah to you too. Please be explicit: is "this problem" on HDR-FOX or FVP-5000T? Without that basic information, we can't know where the datapoint belongs. If you're saying it's the HDR-FOX having problems with UKTV services it's the first I've heard about it.
Regardless, this is not a...
Is it perhaps characteristic of the 5000T to drop the HDMI link in the event of a video decode fault? That would lead to a longer interruption while the HDMI re-establishes. I can't say I've noticed anything similar on HDR-FOX.
Very much localising the problem to FVP-5000T. Some kind of data...
Not necessarily, because if different tuners are in use they are also tuned to different muxes.
The HDR-FOX service menu offers an option to perform signal tests on individual tuners, the same might be true of FVP-4000T.
Experience indicates 70% is far from "too little", but we have no calibration for this so it's hard to be sure. I run perfectly well on "30%". Different equipment might have different calibration, and I would much prefer the industry hadn't dumbed it down for Joe Public and instead expressed...
